Calls are annoying, but surveys are commissioned by governments and companies etc. Sure being polite does take some patience, but the callers are doing a legitimate job. It may not be everyone's choice of a job, but for some it may be the means of feeding their family! No wonder the callers with an accent that indicates they were not Australian born feel that they are not welcome in this country. Is it surprising that young people of recently arrived migrant families, feeling rejected, called vile names, suspected of being trouble makers or terrorists, eventually lose hope and are attracted to groups that accept them?
Which one of you name-callers are prepared to offer a caller your decent, proper job so that the caller can avoid being treated as inferior by Australians?

This forum is extremely useful in providing information about the constant callers, thank you.

It's the repeated hangup without anything that is a nuisance. What are they doing? I am polite to researchers/pollers if they speak.

I asked where they got my number from and I was told that it was randomly generated and rings until it is answered. Privacy would be nice.

Rang about three rings on Sunday monring and when I picked up there was the 'busy' or 'hung up' dial tone. If they were legitimate, even if it was a genuine 'survey' call, they would not do this.

What an opportunity for a young eagle legal to make a name for himself/herself by chasing these scammers for compensation.

I get sick of these calls I have ID so I don't answer them but still a hassle for me to get to the phone to check if it is legitimate or not, why can't they be stopped? I could get the new phone but I do have a few friends with private numbers, which means I lose their calls too.

They actually were calling on behalf of the Australian Sports Commission. It was a research survey about.. believe it or not.. sport.

Believe me that doesn't work. They keep calling back over and over and over again.... therefore their actions are classed as harassment not doing their job!

Yet another nuisance call - survey this time. Reckon I might try the $48 Telstra phone to get some peace from useless interruptions.

ORC International about a survey for a financial institution. Called me on a Sunday, so thought it was suspicious.

ORC calling on a Sunday morning, regarding third party media whatever that might be. Not getting our personal info. Like everyone else, so over these calls.

So tired of this number ringing. The phone rings long enough for the answering machine to answer and no-one ever speaks. This number calls at least three times a week and there is never a message. The fact that no message is everrecorded infers something dodgy about this caller. If they are a legitimate survey then they should leave a message. No message tells me it is a scam of some sort and I will not answer on that basis. I will look into getting one of those phones mentioned earlier. The Do Not Call Register is a joke as they all know how to get around it.
