One of the many numbers the Indian phone scammers have tried calling me on. Usually I get exactly 2 attempted calls every afternoon from the current people. I made the mistake of putting my phone number in a Gumtree ad then the calls started within 20 minutes and should last 3 to 6 months. When they eventually give up they'll just put this number on the list they sell to the next call center (they even rip each other off), then I get to see what tactics the next mob use. This current bunch seem to use completely random, made-up numbers that are different every time, like most do, so no point attempting to call back and see who it is. If this IS someone's real number then it isn't them calling, it's the Indians faking the caller ID. Others have used a single area-code and the next 6 digits always the same, but the last two digits change. They're not in Australia anyway, the caller ID is fake and generated by their software and fed to the local VOIP server, then that's the number you see. They sometimes even use the wrong number of digits
If you didn't know, the ONLY effective way to make the calls stop is to block all strangers or send them to voice-mail. For landlines you can buy phones with contact lists and call screening (so you can reject all calls not from known contacts) or even an old-fashioned answering machine; the scammers don't leave messages as they don't want anyone to have a number they can use to find them. But there is *nothing* you can say, ask, beg, demand or scream that will make the slightest bit of difference - you can only block them. But at least that does work, they do eventually stop calling.
The reason so many banks etc are boasting about using local call centers is that again and again Indian and Filipino call center workers are the ones stealing your info and using their employers' equipment to run their own scams. That's why local companies are finding they can't use them and cancelling their contracts, ha ha.

An Indian guy tried to claim he was from Gov for LED light program. He said replacing the light in your business won't cost you any cent. Then I hang up the call.

About three calls first few days. Indian accent with very English names. Same introductory line asking if we have been given free government exhaust fan covers. They were informed we already had them installed. Today, after the third call, they were firmly told to check their list instead of ringing the same number with the same spiel. That upset someone. Over twenty calls in the next two hours late into the night. Fact that calls were screened and not answered seem to frustrate them even more.

Fake govt LED replacement scheme. These low life bottom feeders call my number 4 times daily for the past two weeks. Have now blocked this number even though it's probably a fake number.
