Not very clear, recorded voice message from so called 'legal dept of ATO' saying there were fraud legal charges against me

just got a computor generated call from (03) 8362 3568 James Anderson, stating i have an outstanding arrest warrant for tax avoidance,

this is a scam.do not return call ato have been contacted. we were very upset to be told we were under surveilance and could be arrested

This is a Voice over Internet Protocol number and the VoIP provider is www.symbionetworks.com and you can check for a numbers VoIP provider here https://www.thenumberingsystem.com.au/#/number-register/search . I suggest we all call Symbio Networks each time we get a scam call from one of their VoIP customers and then maybe Symbio Networks will do something. Symbio Networks number is 1300 789 653. You must realize that Symbio Networks gets paid by the scammers that use their service and this is the reason Symbio Networks appear to be providing a safe haven to scammers.

Got the same message today they have called 3 times now. VERY annoying

Same story - James Anderson called - first had 4 computer calls (which I hung up on) and then a message then james caught me (kids heard it all) threatening me with police arriving in 45 minutes if I didn't pay him 1227.00 immediately. even asked me for my lawyers number!!! children terrified police were coming to take mummy away. what an evil @#%@#%@#$!!!

Got two calls today. One was a recorded message. The second was from a "James Anderson" informing me that there was an arrest warrant against me for tax fraud. I should call the number (03) 6107 9618 and pay $4,900 to stop the proceedings against me. I asked him if $4,900 was enough to stop being arrested, and whether he knew what an idiot was. He asked me are you an idiot or am I? I said he was, and he hang up on me.

A fraudulent recorded message saying the ATO is prosecuting us. We are VERY angry about this as it frightened our children.

Caller: Got a call from (02) 6176 1506 Symbio Network

I got call and recorded msg from this with same ATO issue. I have laughed on them and hang up the phone.

I tracked the number and found that Scammers are using Symbio Network to call make these call. I have called them and informed them but they said that Symbio cannot do anything as it needs to come through legal process. shame on you, helping scammers to rip somebody off

I think all these VoIP service provider should publish their numbers on website and there should be webpage on their website to raise the complaint so that ACCC can do job more effectively.

It is so stupid that scammers are calling us using VoIP and service provider cannot do anything, Actually they should monitor their calls once complaint is raised. That way ACCC can be helped out. It will increase the accountability and responsibility for the Service provider.

Google the complaints against Symbio, there are so many complaints for them to help scammers. I think ACCC should take some action on such companies

I have had 4 calls from this number, Foreign voice claiming to be from the ATO advising of my breach of law and that a warrant had been issued for my arrest. To avoid being contacted by police of my "local territory",

indeed......James anderson and yes a thick indian accent with an 08 number

I received a call today. said his name was James Anderson from ATO, gave melb number (didn't bother to write it down) I think it was a recorded message.
obviously bogus....

i just had a call telling me i owed money to the ato and a warrant had been issued for my arrest and if i didn't call back, the police would come and arrest me HAHAHAHA I let the ato know about it and we had a good laugh. If you get this call, do not call back, just call the ATO and report it.
Automated message saying his name was Jason O'conner (thick indian accent) number given to call was (02) 6145 2403

Same crap msg tax fraud snd that I was s under surveillance

Employee of an accountant here - The ATO will not issue an arrest warrant for outstanding tax, it's a scam - do not engage with them as they want to scare you into paying big $. Laugh and hang up.

This number has left 2 messages on our answer phone. They say we are under surveillance and could be arrested. Total Scam...

Got the same call today, phoned ATO who confirmed scam. What an idiot!

Just got similar call as recorded message regarding tax fraud - defiantly spam as overseas number

said calling from public prosecutors office. Told to get stuffed. 2nd call today, previous one came up as overseas call

same thing. called twice today, recorded messaging, threatening arrest, wanted me to call back. spoke to tax agent, this is a common scam
