This number calls my business mobile number repeatedly. It has been happening for months, so I saved it as spammer in my phone contacts and allocated it a number to remember. They leave white noise messages or hang up after a few rings. I have even answered and made repeated loud banging noises into the phone to deter them and they stay on the line and continue to call. Today I have received 3 calls. They call almost every week.

I work for a very large organisation with a dedicated web/external relations team (I am not one of them). This number rang my direct number, claiming to be from Google, and wanting to check our phone numbers. Very odd.

Same call, they just say "is to confirm the business name", I said I work with multiple business names and locations so whatever I have to do I can do through my own profile. It doesn't really matter how they connect, if really operating a business you cannot miss any call. Just hang out the call, and if a human answer be polite 20 secs but don't give any information obviously.

received a call from this number this morning. we are a business and indian lady said she was from Google checking our address details, i said i find this strange google would be calling as this is all online, she then said our address and said thank you

Said she was from google maps, told her I wasn't interested and I hung up. When I checked my e-mails I had one from Google saying my business hours have been changed. I had to change them back.

Just had this number called, firstly they called me on the business Skype number... 2 rings and they hung up, within a minute the same number called me on my mobile. It was an Indian guy and he asked if he called "Business Name", I said "yes". Then he asked if the number he called was a phone number or fax number???? So I said when you just called it didn't you, and I answered it. He hung up. Very strange.

Callers said they were from Google Maps but asked if our retail store sold playing cards ... weird. Number is now blocked

I wonder if these telemarketers actually know their involved in a scam. Google Maps don't charge to be listed. They told me they want to verify the business address and then they said they can come and take photos of the inside of my shop for Google and it costs $200AUD for the pics and they'll list it, and I'm like I can take Images and upload them my self - such B.S

I was sick and tired of scammers and the fact that nothing is done about them by the Australian government,even when the phone number is supplied to the ACMA. So i downloaded an app called Mr number, its brilliant and has its own data bank of scammers number. It automatically blocks scammers. Well worth a look!!!

I'm in Canada. Why would "Google Australia" be calling me. I have blocked the number and reported it as a spammer/fraud.

This has to be a scam, you don't need to pay money to update your address on your Google Plus profile. I was just looking into setting up another business page with Google Plus and you still need to either 1) initiate Google calling you to confirm your business or 2) have Google mail you at your business address and you key in the confirmation code they mailed you.

I just received a call from a person with a Indian accent, he said he was from google. Wanting to know if my business was a home business or at a business location. I asked him why he was asking this, he said he was updating google map info. I asked, how do I know you really are from google. He said I can call back with my google ID! I said, Right! I do not want to change any information and if I do, I will login to my account and change it myself. He said OK, then hung up. Because he knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with me. I'm not that easily conned! Always listening to your intuition when something doesn't sound right!

got the call, Indian female claimed she was from Google. Rang the number, got an answering machine claiming to be googlemaps, American female voice.....

might be legit....don't care, business closed anyway.....
