Predictive dialers ring the numbers, not people.. The best way to 'fool' the computer when it rings looking for a person to send to the headset of a telemarketer, 'Hello, you are speaking with <name> how can I help you today?'

Most of the time the computer will hang up as it thinks it is an answering machine.

If you just say 'Hello' the computer will think a person has answered and in the 2 or 3 second silence your call is getting sent from the auto computer to a telemarketers headset..

As for Do Not Call Register, it does not apply to Charities, so even if you register you will stop telemarketing from companies but not for profit, government and marketing research can still call.

I have had calls from this number and others in the same range (02 903256XX) over the past 4-5 weeks. The first time I answered they asked for a different person and they we agreed it was the wrong number. Then they kept calling. How do they get around the do not call register???

I donate to charities. If these people cannot give me the courtesy of providing a clear message outlining their intensions and the ability for me being able to return their call.

Repeatedly calling. Haven't answered. Couldn't id the company when I called back. Don't leave messages

Repeatedly calling to cold canvass additional money (I already donate regularly to them) and never leaving a message identifying who is calling. Very pushy. I wont be answering again.

When you call back you can't distinguish the name of the company.

Calling for Amnesty

My experience is that this number was used by a Save the Children Fund caller.  Luckily, the first time they called, the phone dropped out so I was able to put a tag on that number ("Do not answer") so that I've been able to dodge the further 8 calls that they've made since.

I've had them call every day, usually twice daily, for only about a week so far - not good to know I have a few more weeks of this to put up with. How do Amnesty feel this will encourage people to donate to them? It's certainly putting me off doing it again.

Yes I got the same call an hour ago, and I did recently complete a survey for amnesty international. Can't remember if i gave my number however.

I just noticed what y'all said about Amnesty...I signed a petition for them the other day.  I thought they wanted to know too much.  They were going to tick a box on the form....in their words to say "thank-you" &gt; I saw that this box was for someone to contact me, and I said to the pretty young thing doing the survey, "No thank you".   I guess she ticked the box after I left.  I won't be supporting amnesty again!

i spoke to them today. i had been avoiding the calls but i recognised the number and answered. when i answered they asked for me by name and i asked who was calling and they said amnesty. i then politely asked them if they could remove me from the amnesty calling list - though i was happy to continue donating - and from the 2evolve calling list and the person i was speaking to said yes. pretty simple.

Yes, it's telemarketers from 2evolve.

I called the number back (with my caller ID hidden). All calls returned are answered by a machine saying they are 2evolve, and they plan to call you again. There is no opportunity to leave a message or hold for an operator.
