Predictive dialers ring the numbers, not people.. The best way to 'fool' the computer when it rings looking for a person to send to the headset of a telemarketer, 'Hello, you are speaking with <name> how can I help you today?'

Most of the time the computer will hang up as it thinks it is an answering machine.

If you just say 'Hello' the computer will think a person has answered and in the 2 or 3 second silence your call is getting sent from the auto computer to a telemarketers headset..

As for Do Not Call Register, it does not apply to Charities, so even if you register you will stop telemarketing from companies but not for profit, government and marketing research can still call.

I have had calls from this number and others in the same range (02 903256XX) over the past 4-5 weeks. The first time I answered they asked for a different person and they we agreed it was the wrong number. Then they kept calling. How do they get around the do not call register???

I donate to charities. If these people cannot give me the courtesy of providing a clear message outlining their intensions and the ability for me being able to return their call.

Repeatedly calling. Haven't answered. Couldn't id the company when I called back. Don't leave messages

Repeatedly calling to cold canvass additional money (I already donate regularly to them) and never leaving a message identifying who is calling. Very pushy. I wont be answering again.

When you call back you can't distinguish the name of the company.

Calling for Amnesty

I've been getting the same thing for at least 2 weeks. Must be at least 20 missed calls by now (I can't have my phone off me at work but come back to multiple missed calls from them at the end of the day or lunch).I'd think that Amnesty doesn't so much have to do with how much they harass as much as the company that is doing the marketing side. Chances are they get a percentage of the additional funds they raise so it's in their best interest to harass people until they give more as the staff are probably commision based. Poor bastards. I at one stage worked in a similar charity marketing position selling pens and collecting contributions.

It's not Amnesty that is doing the calling, it is 2Evolve...they call for Amnesty, as the people who work at Amnesty are probably busy doing other things. The easiest thing to do is just answer it and say that you don't want to receive any more calls, and then they will take you off the call list for whatever organisation it is they are calling from (they must do Amnesty, the also call for ChildFund, possibly Greenpeace), but if you've already done that then call Amnesty and as them to do it from their end, because your request may have slipped through the cracks. I volunteer for an organisation that uses 2Evolve, and I have heard calls from people who have asked 2Evolve to be taken off the call list but haven't been, and the people who are actually working at the organisation are more than happy to do it and are apologetic that it hadn't been done in the first place. Just remember that 2Evolve people and your charity don't actually work together, they're 2 separate companies, so I'd give Amnesty a call to try and sort it out before you stop supporting them.

Damn Amnesty again. I've previously asked them politely to remove me from their call list and she said she would - but now I've had 2 calls again in the last few days.I've had just about enough of this. Think I'll find another human rights charity to donate to.

It looks as if I have been dragged into the web of 2evolve myself. I have been getting calls for a couple of weeks from two numbers (02) 9032 5675 and (02) 9032 5689. Every day!

Not happy about being called constantly, not good advertising for Amnesty.

2evolve's techniques are so incredibly rude. I contributed to Amnesty for a few years, with the obligatory "please increase your donation" calls every 3-6 months. I then cancelled my membership and have been the victim of 3-4 campaigns lasting around 4-6 weeks each time. I have NEVER answered the call. They would never leave a message - except the last time. After around 4 weeks of 2-4 calls a day I got a message. It was just a long silence, I could hear the sounds of the call centre in the background. I got a few of those, then "Hello? Karen?..." Then a very impatient tone - "Could I speak to Karen PLEASE!?!" and an abrupt hang-up. Sorry - I screen my calls. If you have a legitimate reason to speak to me, leave me a message identifying yourself.Disgusting way to do business. And disgusting that it IS business. This is for CHARITY. A company designed purely to make a profit from the generosity of an individual towards NGOs is gross. That Amnesty use these guys is disappointing.Next time I'll answer and see if I can get off the list.

I too have been hounded consistently for the past two weeks twice a day monday to friday and this site was so handy to work out who it was. I will be emailing them asap to demand they stop harrassing me:)
