I just had the exact same call to my work, with the exact same reference number. so dodgy.

Yep - I was stung at work - very aggressive people - do not not believe a word or give out any information. They threaten me saying I was going to be arrested.

Tried to get $400.00 from me for my back payment of $2400.00, good if it was true. When he insisted I get a Giftcard then he would ring me to get the number, then the money would be put back in my account. When he insisted that I go out now 4.45pm to get the card. I said i have no way of getting to the P.O.so quickly. When he insisted I knew it was a SCAM.

Coming home I found a similar recording on my message bank. The application number was given as 080456. As I am not in receipt of a pension I thought Centrelink made a mistake ringing me. I called the recorded number (02) 8317 1419 several time, mostly no answer at all, sometimes it appeared that the receiver was lifted but hung up straight away. I thought it was a bit funny therefor I checked Reverse-Australia; glad I did.

I have received the same type of calls and the same message. Being cautious I did not call "Centrelink Canberra" as requested.

Received the same recorded message this morning. I only received some of the message as it was part of the way through when I picked up the call. I phoned them back and hung up within seconds of them answering. Indian sounding person the other end - definitely not government - another sh*tty scam.

I received this call and fell for it. Cost me $400. Very upset when I realised how stupid I had been. When is this scamming ever going to stop?

I got exactly the same call as the previous posting right down to the application number of 080456.

Received one of these scam calls today. Robotic caller claiming to be from Centrelink, increase in pension, file moved to Canberra, case file 080456. Obvious phishing call confirmed on this page.

Reported to Scamwatch (ACCC).

How can it be that this scam has been running since 2016 and our politicians still have not set up a fast track way to shut these people down and throw them in jail? How seriously do our politicians take the welfare of ordinary people being targeted by these scams?

The dead giveaway that this is a scam is the fact that they answer the phone straight away! Anyone who’s ever dealt with Centrelink knows that an hour and a half on hold can be considered a win. d*ckheads!

Same call with the same quoted number. I called back, Indian guy responded as a Centrelink, and asked what pension I am referring to. I replied that I’m not a pencioner and he hang up.

Yep, got exactly the same message and details today.
They hung up on me when I phoned and asked them if they were actually Centrelink from Australia.

Scammers claiming to be from Centrelink - prerecorded sounds believable and did not sound Indian or from call centre. Aimed at seniors which really annoys me

Same quoted reference number 080456 - called and after 4th attempt someone answered Centrelink - I asked them to quote their provider number and was hung up on.

Centrelink Scammers - they tried my Mum also and gave her rubbish claiming her Centrelink details had been escalated to Canberra for urgent action - as I am her carer, I logged into her account and could clearly see this was not the case and I already new it was a scam, I also work in Government and know that there is numerous protocols to follow and the person on the other end upon calling back - yes another indian also did not do any of these things nor could they tell me where they worked and what section or office. I even pretended to give them my details to test them out. Centrelink numbers are on google and they do not contact you this way.
