.. wants 'teamviewer' installed, and claim they will assist you if remote access is given!... says NBN update requires a new router.. then directs you to a Kogan page to show a router costing $350 BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT, THEY JUST NEED YOU TO PAY DELIVERY OF $5.00
then says they can't take PayPal, requests bank transfer. asks you to download an app onto your mobile phone. whilst 'waiting' they direct you to watch some tv, relax. INSISTED THE T.V. BE TURNED ON and asks if it's a smart t.v.. .. then asks how many and what type of other devices you have !.

While waiting for a call from a Telstra technician regarding a reported fault, had call from a Jordan Wilson, claiming to be from Telstra. He said the reason for poor Internet was that our IP address had been compromised. When he asked if I had access to the computer told him I would check him out before progressing, which has led me to this site. The timing is disturbing - he appeared aware we had reported a fault.

Caller: NBN Scam

Again a well planned, well delivered scam call. I was told NBN was going to upgrade my Internet speed (please don't laugh at this stage, we all live in our fantasy land) I was asked to check my connection speed, they didn't ask for personal details, and even suggested that my modem didn't need to be changed. I don't know if this was a mistake but I was handed it over to his supervisor, Nick. Unfortunately for Nick, his tone was just wrong and a little sensitive to my checks. He told me my modem would need to be changed and then asked me to enter some things into my computer. When I told him I needed to check things first he offered me the number 02 800 34917 to call and verify his status. I didn't bother calling.

Inidian accent. They knew my address, name and that I had NBN network. They first asked me to advise what colour lights were on my modem and then asked for me to indciate how many devices I had connected to the modem. I advised that I would have to count the devices and ring them back. They happily gave their (Anglicised?) name and number (02) 8003 4917. I had no intent of ringing back.

This is indeed a scam. I phoned the NBN Co office in Sydney where they confirmed that as a wholesaler they don't contact members of the public. Any contact in relation to your internet will come from your provider - noone else.

Anglo name with a very Indian accent. I asked him to speak up as I was deaf. I had him yelling and repeating everything. Said their number was (02) 8003 4917. It is a call centre. Everyone would have heard the conversation he had with me. At least I had fun annoying him

Claimed to be from NBN saying they were fixing the slow connection. Got me to do a speed test. Told me he had organised an NBN technician to come around called Jack Morris. He then wanted me to go to onto a website ending with .il. When I refused he gave me head office number (02) 8003 4917 to call and verify him. I hung up with no intention to call. He then called me back twice...I called him out on being a scammer and have not heard anything more.

Had a number of persistent calls from the same person with accent was hard to work out what he was saying then put me onto another person who said would take me through steps of teamviewer.I know they have been upgrading in my area for high speed internet. I asked the gentleman where was his H.O of NBN said North Sydney and gave me this no. to call (02) 8003 4917. Surely there must be someone else to contact with reference to new roll out of faster service. I was given a name of a technician to attend my home with his name and NBN no. 8xxxxx7 I also have his name so is there anyway of seeing if this person is genuine.

Same deal as others.Told me they were presently fixing slow NBN speed with fibre optic cabling and wanted me to check the speed of my NBN. Fortunately I know they are not as we have copper cabling and are unlikely to get fibre. Very persistent. Got his name and number as he wanted a call back.
Unfortunately he wont get that call.

Bogus/scam call from NBN wanting me to open Teamviewer to fix internet speeds. I was very suspicious as I get other internet Virus calls every other week. I asked for a number to call back and I was given the one shown above. Called back, no professional answer such as NBN Co, how can I help you? Just hello in a strong Indian accent, as was the female original caller, David and the last person answering. This third person got quite agitated when I asked for a name to search in white pages to find this phone number. The last person sounded identical to David, but claimed to not be. He finally hung up on me. A sure sign of a scammer cutting his losses.
