Caller: Amazon Scammer Placed an order with Amazon and As soon as the order went through a man with a strong Unintelligible Indian accent called me from this number 3 times ( I don't answer unknown number and it was 9.30pm) and even left voice messages to try to get me to verify my account details. Then, soon after Amazon sent me an email informing me that my order was being cancelled because someone else was trying to access my data. Looks like Amazon is working together with these scammers. How do they know when we place orders here from Australia. Why bother buying from Amazon, no more.

Caller: she said she's from Amazon about 5mins after order is placed, I received a call from (02) 7228 1102 which shows it’s from Sydney. I picked up but the signal was so bad I couldn’t hear a thing, so I hang up. then this number called again straight away, I picked up, signal is still bad but I could hear a lady talking. she claims she’s from Amazon team, and stated my order details and paid amount. then she asked me to confirm my shipping address and last 4 digits of card number used to pay for this order.
I was confused so I asked her why I need to verify this over the phone, because all details are available on the order anyways. She tried to say something but she has a very thick Indian accent and her background is so noisy, plus signal still keeps breaking off, I could not understand what she’s trying to say.
I asked her to please repeat, she did but I still cannot catch a full sentence at all. then she only just keeps repeating “please state your shipping address and last 4 digits of card number, otherwise your order will be cancelled”, no matter what I say or ask. then she said “okay since you don’t want to verify your details, I will cancel your order. if you still want to purchase it you need to place a new order”, then hang up.
then I had someone from Customer Service team call me, and explained what happened. the person said Amazon’s account specialist team received “my” direction to cancel the order, so they did. then I asked him: obviously I didn’t provide the direction, so who did? he said he really doesn’t know.
then he confirmed that neither Amazon Customer Service team or Account Specialist team would reach out and call consumers to verify order details after an order is placed. the call I received is very likely to be a scam call, and he highly recommends me to change me account password immediately and closely monitor activities on my card for the next a few weeks.

My first order was cancelled so I changed the payment and purchased again. I then received a call from this number asking if the 2 purchases were correct and ask me to cancel one of them. They new all about my purchases

A very similar experience to all of the above. Was asked by caller to confirm last 4 digits of card used for transaction. Very concerned about the security breach that enables this to happen.

Caller: (02) 7228 1102 Same as previous messages. I ordered something on Amazon and 5 min later this number called multiple times. I didn’t pick up and I checked this forum then blocked the number. Should have changed my Amazon account pw right away, I didn’t and now I have a fraudulent purchase from Amazon hitting my credit card the same day. Will need to sort it with my bank but very annoying. They didn’t purchase through my Amazon account but did use my credit card. No idea how they can do this. Very sophisticated scam.

Caller: (02) 7228 1102 I received a call from this number. However I use Heya on my mobile to silence calls from numbers not included in my contact list, and send them through to my message bank. The caller did not leave a message. When I did a reverse look-up I found others had received a call on this number shortly after placing an order on Amazon. Likewise I had placed an order with Amazon about 10 minutes before being called. What is puzzling is how this spammer knows this. It suggests a security breach somewhere.

I live in WA and ordered an item from Amazon. I received a phone call within 5 minutes from a gentleman (Indian accent) who claimed he worked for the Amazon Fraud Dept. He knew exactly what item I had ordered and said there had been some suspicious activity with my bank card and requested I provide him with the last four digits of my card which I declined. I called Amazon after and they advised they did not call me.

No idea who the caller was. They didn't identify themselves but kept asking if I had authorised payment for goods on Amazon. There was too much domestic noise in the background to hear the caller clearly, and after I mentioned the distracting background noise, they hung up.
