I also ordered from Amazon less than half an hour ago and get the call afterwards. The called 5 times in a row. Luckily I didn’t pick up and checked to find this. They didn’t leave message too. Beware!!

I had this exact experience, called up asking me to confirm the last 4 digits of the new card. ask what my relationship with the name on the card was.

I spoke to a very help customer service person from Amazon AU, She confirm that if there is a new card or large first order, their accounts department does a manual review. she said that it was Amazon that call me and they would have done it as it was a large amount on a new card

Hope this helps somebody

It's legit. I ordered a google play online voucher which is meant to be be processed immediately but it was delayed, received a call from this number about 30 minutes later asking to confirm that I had placed the order. They didn't ask for any of my details. Already knew my name and exact value of the voucher I had bought. The voucher was processed to my email about 2 minutes after the call. Legit number.

They said they were from amazon. They had my details on last order. I called amazon and Amazon said they didn't call. I even got amazon to check this number and it's definitely not from amazon. Do not listen to them

This actually was a good call. Amazon asked if I purchased an iPhone, I told them that I had not and they cancelled the order. I then checked my credit card and there was a few suspicious transactions from doordash.

I then called my bank and they said that also there had been suspicious transactions from Amazon.

I don't believe Amazon was at fault, they actually brought this to my attention.

Pain in the ass due to having to cancel my credit card but I am glad I did get the cal.

Check credit cars if you get a call from this number!!!!

I received the same call (foreign accent and noisy background). I asked her to verify she was from Amazon and she said she would send me an email and call me back (which she did). I still felt very nervous that she was legitimate (she wasn't asking for anything odd such as CC number - she just asked me to confirm my order) and she got frustrated with me and hung up. I then went to Amazon site and they say if they sent you an email it will be in your message centre (it was) so it appears it is a REAL process that they call you to verify your order in some circumstances. I also then called Amazon - you do this through the Amazon service area - asking them to call you back and a number from Seattle calls you - which feels much more trust worthy. They were going to raise a complaint for the fact that she was rude but it appears this is a genuine process. I told them they need a better process as we in Australia are suspicious of this type of activity. If you get one of these calls - ask them to send you an email and then check in your amazon account it is in the message centre and you should be ok. Hope my explanation helps. Shouldn't be this hard though hey....perhaps I should go back to buying from physical shops - too hard!

Very confusing situation but does appear to be Amazon. They called and left messages to return the call, but the return number would not connect. Call requested a call from Amazon in the US, was told the number was NOT Amazon and was likely a scam. However, the number called back, knew what my transaction was and just wanted order confirmation. No request for any person or credit card details. And I had just made a large purchase using multiple credit cards.

Caller: Scam- Amazon

Just had a call at night from someone claiming to be from Amazon. I let the call go to message bank and they said they would call back again to verify the order.

I came in here and read comments and was confused as some say scam and some say legit calls.

I just jumped online to Amazon chat and there has been no calls made to me since placing my order from them and they said they would not attempt to call so it’s definitely a scam.

Have changed passwords and two factor authentication but this is worrying how many people it has happened to.

This is a legit call. They call you if you make orders that ar relatively high value. In my case, it was a four figure purchase and they verified the order amount. As soon as I did, I saw in my Amazon account the purchase was processed as per verification. This is probably just their anti fraud department.

Amazon scammers! Trying to phish for credit card and personal details. I have them nothing. Very suspicious Even tho they have my orders leads me to think my account has been compromised. I even got an email through Amazon message centre saying they are legit, nobody uses Amazon message centre. It's for buyers and sellers to communicate with each other. Amazon won't contact you for confirm your order.DONT TRUST THEM! Changed password and enable 2 factor authentication. A few hours later my Amazon app on my phone informed my order was shipped

I picked up that this was a scam after realised they hacked my account - I told them I would cancel my card so not to worry - they tried to tell me this would cost me $199. I asked to speak to the manager - they were relentless with their call backs. I have since cancelled my bankcard so they cannot access any further information. They were good - they had my name, email account and address. I need to update passwords.
They also called from mobile 0488 897 542.

I am also in WA.

Same exact situation. Harsh foreign accent, lots of background noise, everything broken up.

She called three times, and I still could not understand her.

However, I was able to make out the words "amazon" and "order", and the amount of the order I had just placed.

After three times that I told her I could not understand what she was saying, the calls stopped.

Definitely not a scam, just a foreign call center doing the work for Amazon. After I didn't answer this call I got an email from Amazon saying they will be calling in the next few minutes and please answer to verify that you'd made a recent order. I answered the next call. I had just made an order 5 minutes earlier for an amount much larger than my usual purchases. They told me the exact amount of the order, and just to verify the shipping address. They did not ask for any card details.

Call from Amazon (allegedly). After reading through the comments I decided to change my password and enable 2FA just to be safe since they knew that I had ordered a PS5. Been monitoring for any suspicious activity but nothing so far. Seems to be legit but can't hurt to play it safe.

This is a scam to validate Credit Card details. I purchased a Gift Card from Amazon and received a call not long after stating that they needed confirmation that I made the purchase, I stupidly did not ask questions as they knew the amount. They did not request any personal information and I did not give any, but they said they would process it. The gift card was still delivered and I activated it, but not sure how they knew about it.

I then saw two authorisation transactions for $0 on my account, referencing Amazon and Visa, the Amazon one also referenced a phone number (08) 6621 6107. I spoke to Amazon both on Live Chat and on the phone, both stated that the call was not from them and that they do not have a process in place where they would call someone like this. They DO sometimes perform authorisations on new cards, but this was not new.

I have cancelled my card, changed passwords and enabled 2FA, I would suggest anyone else with similar circumstances to do the same, if they can do an authorisation, then they can use your card.

Called by a lady with an Indian accent a few minutes after placing an order for a mobile phone. I couldn't understand her initially but eventually realised it was about the phone I had just purchased. She basically wanted to verify that I did make the order so I asked her for details of the order and she was able to provide them to me.

She then asked for verification so I replied that I did place that order. No further information was required from after I confirmed and she ended the call saying she just needed verification and would start processing the order.

After the call I contacted Amazon via online chat and the person on the other end said yes, it could have been a verification call.

So seems legit.

It is Amazon, I haven't used Amazon in over 2 years & I made a large purchase then they called 5 mins later. I didn't answer the call initially but then read the comment here. I had to change address and that was all they were confirming, they didn't ask me for credit card details. It sounds dodgy but its all good.
