Caller confirmed the business name and asked if we accepted credit cards. I said yes, and he asked "American Express?" I said, No, we don't accept Amex. He replied, "thanks, thats all I need to know" and hung up.

Just had exactly the same thing, asked if we accept credit card payments and Amex. She said her name was Sarah Hardman calling for her dad John Hardman who lives in Melbourne, she said she lives in Sydney..

Someone claiming to be from American Express. I don't have American Express. Probably some punk who got his hands on the data that has been released lately and was going to try and scam some money. Not this little black duck!

Caller: Data Collection Just in case anyone is thinking that calls from this number are trying to scam you or take money, don't worry they aren't. They are a UK based data company who are conducting surveys to see the percentage of companies who use credit cards and American Express. While it can be annoying don't worry about them stealing data or money from you they just need yes or no answers to the two questions. Hope this helps people :)

Asked if we took credit card and asked if we took American Express. Sounded more like a survey than a scam

So I don’t know this for sure but my theory is they are a analytics agency and they are calling local businesses all around Australia asking if they take American Express so that they can report to American Express what percentage of Business businesses take it. I would appreciate if they were just honest from the start, but I get it. They are basically conducting a survey and selling the information possibly so American Express can decide whether or not they want to advance in Australia.

Got a call from an Englishman asking if we are a cash only business and do we take credit card then asked if we take Amex and how much. Said depends on how much you spend as it's a percentage, said he'll just have a word with his brother and hung up. What is the point of this time wasting call???

Caller: A male I received a call from this number asking if we take credit cards as payment for our cars. I asked how much he was looking to spend on a car and that would determine whether or not we would be able to accept credit card payment. He said he didnt know and needed to have a look at the cars. I asked him if he was talking a $10k car or $100k car and he didnt know so i knew it was a scammer. I could see it was a sydney number so i asked him if he was in bendigo now and he said yes so i was starting to have fun with him knowing i am not in bendigo. He asked if we accept American express.
