Had a lady try to tell me she was from telstra and they needed to check my computer due to internet issues. I played along and she put her "supervisor" on who was a guy telling me to access team viewer. Having not been born yesterday I played along right up to the point where he asked me if I could hit enter to the team viewer website and tell him what I saw.... I told him I saw "Telstra has Blocked this website due to people pretending to represent their company. Do not use" I told him that if he is from Telstra then he should know that this website is blocked. Knowing that he was being had, he turned naughty and tried to seduce me with his private soldier. He told me that he wants me to suck it, however after much laughing I told him "I'd probably need a magnifying glass to find it, so I'll pass". This of course annoyed him even more, as I had just reduced his raging manhood into a tiny frankfurt so he told me to "F*$! off" and hung up.... Moral to the story: These guys are scam artists. Don't give them any details, but when the mood takes you have fun!!

Caller: Scammers claiming to be from Telstra

Caller with Indian accent claiming to be from Telstra. I quickly assessed the call as being a scam due to high level of background noise (professional call centres have sound absorbing partitions between work stations to minimise any background noise to staff and external parties would hear no background noise). I got the caller to confirm that she was employed by Telstra, then asked for her AGS number. She provided me with TLS (ASX code for Telstra shares) followed by five digits. I challenged her about this as it is an incorrect format for an AGS number and also mentioned the excessive background noise levels, suggesting that she was a liar and a scam caller. At this point she passed the call to her male supervisor who demanded to know what it was that I was asking for. I asked him for his AGS number and when he couldn't provide it I told him that I knew he wasn't employed by Telstra and that I was. He then got rather heated and wanted to know what my AGS number is. I reminded him that they called me and as such I was not required to provide any details to him. There was no way I was going to give him my AGS No. as this would give him the correct format for future reference. Anyone receiving these calls should not assume that the call is not originating from off shore because the caller id seems to indicate an Australian land line number. It is most likely a "virtual number" being displayed and under NO circumstances should you follow any directions to log into any computer sites and perform a "ctrl R" if requested to by these callers. Doing so will give the site you're onto remote access to your computer and even if they don't ask for any banking or other personal details you will have no idea of what they are doing through your computer and internet connection and you may well have the AFP knocking on your door due to terror related activities.

5 calls yesterday from this number & left no message. The final call late in the evening, I pressed the answer button, said nothing & left the line 'open' for almost an hour until I hung up before going to bed. I listened from time to time and there appeared to be nobody on the other end of the line.

I have had 6 calls from this number today, in about 6 hours. Each time, I let it ring out and they never leave a message. (i do this with any number i don't know - if the caller wants to talk to me, they will leave a message, won't they?). This strategy saves a lot of time and angst. I just wish Telstra could block them in the first place.

Caller: Sandeep (really!!) from Telstra Technical Department

Tried calling me on mobile earlier in the day then rang again on my way home.Tried telling me that there was a problem with my internet. I asked him what the issue was but he couldn't tell me. I then asked him to confirm my details, starting with my name and date of birth (which, of course, Telstra has on file). He could not! I then asked him did he need me to be at my computer. He said yes. I then told him that it would be about another 15mins or so before I could do that as I was actually driving at the time. I then told him that as far as I know, Telstra has systems in place to prevent the sort of problems he was alluding to ... that's what I pay for each month. And then I said that there was no way I was giving anyone outside access to my computer over the phone. If he was that concerned about this problem then send a technician out to my place and we'll fix it together. Sandeep realised he had met his match and hung up. Just as I pulled into home I heard the phone ring and the machine answered resulting in a hang up and surprise surprise, it was the same number ringing back again on the landline (they had already tried twice before this as well). Good sport with these guys!

Caller: "Bruce" from Telstra technical department

Caller told me he was calling about my Telstra internet. Told him I don't have any Telstra services and hung up. The same people keep calling my mother in law which she finds distressing as her memory is fading and she keeps forgetting they are scammers. Fair Trading needs to do something to stop this, they are using local numbers through some kind of computer programme, which is how they side-step the DNC register.

Thanks Kim for the post.
These people rang twice a day for a week. Would not leave message. Thanks to this site, I will block. But just replying to let people know they are still at it.
