ATO scam

Phishing call claiming to be from ATO. Dial 1 to connect.

Rang at 6.50am today claiming to be ATO saying I had a tax debt that needed to be paid immediately. Odd thing is The person they asked for was my daughter who’s still school aged and doesn’t work or receive Centrelink.

They tried to call me number of times. First time was an Indian accent woman, second time was Indian accent man.

Often, weekly lately, I get a call from a number starting with (02) 621.. I don't say anything when I answer, and so it hangs up...I add them to my reject list....but they keep coming weekly but with a different extension.....I think these pre-recorded "bots" or whatever wait to be triggered by a voice response....getting sick of them.

It is definitely fake call they trying to threat the people by pretending taxation officers.

Claimed Tax Fraud.

Asked for my name and Address: I refused and they claimed I would now be reported and arrested by the Australian Federal Police. I said I will contact them now and hung the phone.

I contacted the AFP and they informed me that these people try to get your contact details. DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM.

I am guessing if the call continues, that they will say you have been caught for tax fraud and you need to transfer their specified amount of money or else you will be arrested. NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR BANK DETAILS.

They did not call, they just sent a message that I missed a call from them and they asked me to call them back.... Definitely scam....

Scam. I answered and they hung up. I called back straight away but received a message saying the number was disconnected. Please check the number and try again.

scam, the ATO don't communicate that way they send a text requesting you to log into the MyGov site separately to ensure your security

Got this just now and did lookup here. Thanks folks for recording the scam, the recorded message from number does sounds dodgy but is scary.

Missed 1 call, tried to call back, said "number disconnected".
Call says it was coming from Canberra but I can't think of anyone there who would call me.
