I just got a message too. Have these people been reported. Imagine if an elderly person received such a call, how frightened they would be. These scammers need to be stopped ASAP.

I just received this message as well. Thought I was strange that I wasn't speaking to a live person, and it restarted twice.

Absolutely a scam trying to convince me they are from the ATO but when I called the ATO to confirm, they said it was not them and to not give any information to this dodgy scammer.

Still happening, call from (02) 6152 8679 today with voice message threatening about tax debt. Came through on viber.

Same as most of the comments here. 6am Perth time 31/3/17 got a call from the "ATO", a female computer voice, that I was a primary supsect, under surveliance and to call that number

Received the scariest call with an automated message of a female voice from Canberra, claiming to be from the Legal department of the Australian Taxation office. Stating there has been a case filed against my name, and that I have to call back immediately so I won't face criminal charges. Turns out I'm not the only one.

Same as above recieved a call today my concern is what if a person with mental illness or an elderly person recieved this call it could stress them a lot government needs to do something about it...

I received this call also, word for word. I have reported this to the ATO ph: 1800 008 540 - anyone who receives a threatening call like this report it directly to the ATO.

The reason of this call is to make you aware that you have received an affidavit against your name. where you are being listed as a pimary suspect for a case being filed against your name and your house is under surveillance so do not disregard this message and call me back as soon as possible on (02) 6152 8679 I repeat that is (02) 6152 8679.

Calls from Clients re this scam. ATO will always send a letter for unpaid Tax. Followed up by a call to your Tax Agent. Any calls you receive from a third party re unpaid tax. refer it to your Accountant first. There are so many so called "ATO Scammers" out there. NEVER respond with out first checking.
