Tried to scam elderly father and hung up when I took over phone call

Recorded voice said they were from EBay and they would debit my account for $298 dollars following a purchase request. I hadn’t purchased anything. Sounds like a scam.

Person pretending to be from Amazon Prime telling me my account had been hacked (I don't have Amazon Prime so knew straight away it was a scam). Played along for 5 minutes to see how far they would take it. Asked questions like what type & model of phone I have. Then asked me to download an app call " ConnectWise" . This is a mirroring app which gives a person remote access to you data (Similar to TeamViews).

Scam caller spoke with foreign accent phishing for personal details

Claiming they were eBay and I had to pay $298 so I then spoke to a person on that number and I asked them where they were based and they said sydney but my ph located the number and they were calling from Canberra they r and scam

the call is not actually from ACT, just programmed to appear as though. most likely call comes from India

I thank all for the comments. I never answer a mobile phone call that is not in my contacts. Like this one, I add to my contacts with "Scam 14/3/2024", with variants if ReverseAust contributors say the name the scammer is pretending to be.

Didn't recognise the number, so didn't answer the call. No message left so checked on this site. Obviously a scam call.

Dodgey call - now blocked.

caller did not leave a message .. unknown number

Didn't recognise the number, so didn't answer the call + no message.. 3 times today so after checking on here blocked the number. Thank you everyone for your input...most helpful.

Definitely sounds like scam call, came on here to see and others having the same experience.. they said I had $299 dollars to pay something? But I never purchased anything online recently and especially not from eBay..

Same as all here. Recorded message saying they were from “ “mbay” I pressed all the buttons they asked it connected to an obvious overseas computer with Indian attached. I said” what do u want? Does this ever work?’ And he hung up. M effers
