I recieved a call today calling me mrs shepherd (whom i am not) and he said we here elidgable to recieve 3,600 tax free  money, and he was from the tax office...and asked how we would like it, cheque or bank deposit! i was a bit wary and said we should have recieved a letter from to tax department, he was quick in telling me to ring (02) 6100 3234 and quote a 4 digit id number...
The man sounded foriegn(Indian maybe) and the line did not connect straight awaywhich got me suspicious that it was an OS call. To me he sounded like he was in an Indian call centre...lots of ppl talking etc.

I received a call from a heavily accented (indian) man saying I was entitled to a tax refund from the tax office and asked me to contact this number with a reference number and a cheque number, he asked me my name address and date of birth, i declined all questions, however he recited the correct answers to each on on my refusal. As above there were background noises etc.

If you receive a call from this phone number, note it is a scam. This is an international identity theft racket promising thousands of dollars refund if you provide them with a good faith payment or finacial details. DO not provide any details or payments.

Got a call from someone with who told me he was from the Tax Office and his name was "Van Johnstone". He told me I was entitled to a Tax refund  and to get it I had to ring (02) 6100 3423, ask for "Mr Steve Edwards" and quote an ID number that he gave me. He also told me that I qualified because I paid my taxes and I had no criminal record and was not a bankrupt . . . . he also new my name . . .there were background voices which sounded like a typical asian/african "boiler room".I treated it as a Scam and did not give any information.
