Caller: ATO ?

Call from ATO saying warrant out for my arrest and that I had to pay a certain amount of money today or be arrested within 20 minutes. Do the ATO actually phone people out of the blue without any warning. Is this a scam and if so who do I report it to.

Don’t believe anything these criminals tell you it’s a scam call; the ATO don’t go around calling people or threatening them with arrest these callers are just trying to scam money out of innocent people. For starters it isn’t even the end of the financial year and taxes don’t have to be lodged til around the end of August so even if the ATO did call people they would have no reason to do it right now and they would have auditors contacting you first to have a personal look through your finances if something didn’t add up plus things would be submitted in formal writing too.
The criminal callers actually had the hide to threaten my deceased father with arrest a couple of years ago so I don’t know what they hoped to achieve from that?

Automated message saying I needed to call back or an arrest warrant would be issued. Hahaha

I got same call, I said my name was richard head but you can call me d*ck in a fake Asia accent. Claiming they were ato then he goes you mother f*cker son of a bitch and hangs up 😂😂 definitely scammers

I got the same call today. I called back the number. I got an Indian/ Pakistani call centre that was very busy. I sounded like there was quite a few people taking calls. Be careful everyone and keep your money in your pocket until the real ATO asks for it.

My goodness. How can someone use ATO to threaten people for collection? It's better to beg money sitting in the road rather than asking money like this? Disgusting.
Just happened to me and I am feeling so angry. Such a dumb.

Just disgusting as they are calling and saying that i have not paid the tax and now the case will go to the court. Also they are telling me to pay 3000 dollars as a fine. Is it true?

Was a computerised voice saying that i have to call back or they will issue an arrest warrant. Didnt say where they were from just said to call the 'department' back.

I gave them all my money, because i dont want to be raped in gaol.

I called back and got an overseas call centre. She started in on the scam and I realised it wasn't the ATO and hung up. Criminals.

An indian guy pretending he's from ATO, in my case he improved his act and almost convinced me, went on saying that my accountant may have made an error and wants to clear it up with him, while I pretended to look for his contact details, I googled this number and came across this thread, when I confronted him about it, he hung up.

The most disturbing thing about this call is the threatening tone and informing me there is a warrant issued for my arrest. These people seriously need to do some prison time.

Claimed to be ATO. Threatened arrest. Very aggressive. Police and ASIO should be arresting these people for identity theft, impersonating a federal department and extortion.

I just got this phone call. Same recorded message. it is definitely a scam!
