This might be something to help re calls from this number: a friend sent me a text message from her mobile but accidentally clicked my home landline number. I received a call from this number (0198339100) and the text message my friend had sent was left on my answering machine as an understandable voice message. This number has called at least 12 times today,I never answered it as checked here first.
Have now blocked it,never had to do this before. These morons need to have their service disconnected
Caller: +61 198339100 - Text to Voice Service
My mother sent me a text message from her mobile. Instead of sending to my mobile, she unintentionally sent the SMS to my home landline number. The SMS was converted to a voice message and delivered via 0198339100 to my landline number and recorded on the associated answering machine - Good to know that the message got to me!
Rings every 10 to 15 mins and there is no one there, started at 8.30pm, got sick off it and unplugged the landline. Plugged it back in an hour later and it rang again. So now my phone is unplugged again. Maybe it will stopped by tomorrow. Received a call from 0198339100 on the 1 Jan 1919 @ 8.01am.On pickup no answer, when I called back, message to ring 0198339999 apparently telstra message which also was dead, no answer.
We are a private/silent number.
Most likely another scam, we had one awhile ago stating they were from telstra, technicians. My computer was hacked they said full of viruses etc and I needed to do this and that enter a code and they would fix it, I DIDN'T.
I rang telstra myself to check and yes a scam. I asked telstra being a silent number how they got it and what could be done. Apparently the scammers use voip / Internet using a generated code picking random numbers to call.
You can't block it, wonderful world the Internet, but you can block all overseas calls (telstra did that) as most scams originate from abroad.
Sadly you can't block the more sophisticated scammers using Voip.
Hope that helps. Victoria Australia
hung up and checked with reverse and saw all others who are being plagued by this scammer.. what has happened to the do not call register? seems to be useless if these calls are coming through.. call 0198339999 and get the SMS someone has sent to your home phone perhaps inadvertantly. You're welcome! Keeps ringing - about a dozen times today. Just hang up. Average between 2 & 6 calls a day my phone not working so the static is over the top so I do not answer but they still keep ringing surely someone can stop it from happening? started 10.15pm 1st feb 2019, put call block on , then another 6 times , as red light flashes on phone. Truly hate telstra and our govt for this sh.t 0198-339-100 has called about 5 times tonight starting at 10:30pm. Only 2 people have our home phone number and they have not passed it on to anyone. We have unplugged our phone now that it is after 11pm and still calling.
A most annoying thing and such a weird number. It does not look like any Australian mobile number!
Seriously, f$#@ers. So bloody annoying. I have 23 missed calls from this number over the past 2 days. No one there, very annoying. Recorded message saying it was a recorder message about a delivery. We're not expecting a delivery, but I hung up anyway. Voice had a bit of an accent, so decided not to listen to the rest of the call. Three calls today on my land line. Answered third but nobody there. Have blocked number. Rang continuously all day. the calls started at 4pm and continued to call 14 times up to midnight, I was able to turn the phone on silent, what a serial pest. Caller: Said someone from telstra
They tell you your comp can get hacked. I said I have security but they said it would not be enough. I then said I was not even with Telstra and he said well "f**k off !!!
Caller: Talking Text message
Kept calling was an automated message just lifted the receiver long enough to here recorded advertising about specials just put the receiver down and the calls stopped.
Received a call at 10:00 from this number shortly after a message from a relative's fall down alert was converted from text to message. Apart from the lateness of the call, it mean the relative's alert system may have triggered this and with the phone through NBN pulling the plug is not an option.
