This might be something to help re calls from this number: a friend sent me a text message from her mobile but accidentally clicked my home landline number. I received a call from this number (0198339100) and the text message my friend had sent was left on my answering machine as an understandable voice message. This number has called at least 12 times today,I never answered it as checked here first.
Have now blocked it,never had to do this before. These morons need to have their service disconnected
Received a call from 0198339100 on the 1 Jan 1919 @ 8.01am.On pickup no answer, when I called back, message to ring 0198339999 apparently telstra message which also was dead, no answer.
We are a private/silent number.
Most likely another scam, we had one awhile ago stating they were from telstra, technicians. My computer was hacked they said full of viruses etc and I needed to do this and that enter a code and they would fix it, I DIDN'T.
I rang telstra myself to check and yes a scam. I asked telstra being a silent number how they got it and what could be done. Apparently the scammers use voip / Internet using a generated code picking random numbers to call.
You can't block it, wonderful world the Internet, but you can block all overseas calls (telstra did that) as most scams originate from abroad.
Sadly you can't block the more sophisticated scammers using Voip.
Hope that helps. Victoria Australia
Caller: +61 198339100 - Text to Voice Service
My mother sent me a text message from her mobile. Instead of sending to my mobile, she unintentionally sent the SMS to my home landline number. The SMS was converted to a voice message and delivered via 0198339100 to my landline number and recorded on the associated answering machine - Good to know that the message got to me!
Rings every 10 to 15 mins and there is no one there, started at 8.30pm, got sick off it and unplugged the landline. Plugged it back in an hour later and it rang again. So now my phone is unplugged again. Maybe it will stopped by tomorrow. Caller: Some loser
This loser called me also but I let it ring out. Hey loser, if you are reading this, Get help. 17/4/2019
Caller: Telstra SMS to Voice Service
If somebody sends an SMS to a landline this service will call the landline with the message. You can't call the service back you must answer the call.
Unfortunately scammers can also use this service to hide where they are coming from but the service itself is not a scam.
hung up and checked with reverse and saw all others who are being plagued by this scammer.. what has happened to the do not call register? seems to be useless if these calls are coming through.. call 0198339999 and get the SMS someone has sent to your home phone perhaps inadvertantly. You're welcome! Keeps ringing - about a dozen times today. Just hang up. It is a scam.
Telstra don't care, TIO hangs up on you even though your on a DO Not Call list .
They got through 23 times in one night after being blocked previously
Caller: A friend
A text was sent to our work landline and the phone number is a Telstra number. To listen to the text, get the number of the person sending the text, the time and date of the text and to delete it you need to ring 0198 3399 999. Yes sometimes the text might be from a scammer but the number itself if not a scam. If you ring back it redirects you to ring 0198 3399 999 to pickup your message. The message on our work number was from a friend of someone here and it was merely Text me if you want Gab x
Caller: Essential Energy
Not a scam ... Essential Energy sending a voice/text message advising me that a planned power supply outage for tomorrow had been cancelled due to weather ...
Repeated calls from this number either normal rings or just half a ring, enough to wake you up at all hours repeatedly! Caller: My sister
could not be deciphered by telstra
Calling every 10 minutes. I am not answering message called home at 4:35am just one ring then stops, enough to wake me up .!@!#!@# call from 00198339999,text message sent to a landline and converted to voice message. Caller: 198339100
Answered the call from 198339100 (on landline) and when they started talking about 'milk' I hung up. When the number called again i let it go to message bank. When i checked the message it actually gave me the mobile number of who was trying to contact me. A number i knew, so i rang them. Sure enough they had sent a text message to my landline, by accident, instead of sending a text to a mobile. And yes the text message was about needing to pick up some milk ;-)
This number called my workplace 30 times in non buisness hours from 5:13pm right up until 11:34pm. Naturally nobody was here but obviously a scam
