Person who answers phone is indian and very agressive. Said someone would call me back but number was blocked so don't know what would have happened after that. Logged in to my paypal account ok with right password.

same as all the above but i was so naive i let him in in my computer took money fro my bank account lucky i stopped on time but i think he took all my informations from my pc going to the police tomorrow

Same as above their website got in fast looked genuine and I rang the number 1800 861 186 became uneasy when an Indian man (may not have felt uneasy if he had US accent) said here is a password 7 characters and said proof of authenticity would come by a phone call in which someone within 1 minute would reveal the closely guarded password at which point I successfully logged into PAYPAL ------ the rat exposed.

message on opening Paypal account "your account is temporarily on hold" Call 1800 861 186 to resure account. Told by Indian voice that my account had been hacked - took me through a long proceedure to restore account then asked me to check my bank account for unusual activity in lasy seven days. I refused.

Person who answers phone is indian . Said someone would call me back and he called back himself in a min. He then started to instruct me to install teamviewer when I started getting suspicious. Once it was installed and he got access, I realised this is scam and quickly disconnected my wifi network. I later found this web and thank god I did not get scammed . Hope this scammers get caught soon

I tried logging into my Paypal account but got a popup message saying that my account was locked due to suspicious activity and I should call up 1800 861 186.
I called this number and a lady promptly picked up the phone and seemed like it was patched through to the Philippines. She took my name and email id and asked me to download the Teamviewer software, when I got suspicious, and said I cannot do that. She then said her executive would call me back, which he did. He called himself James and kept insisting that I should download teamviewer either on my PC or Phone of I Pad, which is when I realized that this was definitely a scam trying to access my devices and I told him my suspicions and he promptly hung up. Watchout!

Caller: Phone number came up after attempting to log into PayPal

Same as all the above. An Indian man calling himself Tom targeted my 79 mother after the website with this number came up as she attempted to log in to PayPal. She followed his instructions - including downloading Team Viewer software onto her computer to gain access to her accounts. He brought up a fake version of her bank account which showed a $10,000 payment he had supposedly made into her account. He then gave her a BSB and Account number for her to go down to the bank and withdraw $10,000 and deposit it into his account and use the reference 'Home Renovation'. It was at this point that she got suspicious and called me. I went around to her house straight away and as she was explaining what had happened her phone was ringing incessantly. He had called her 17 times. When she finished telling me what had happened and I answered the phone he the first thing he said was 'Have you been to the bank yet'. No hello or identifying himself. As soon as he heard my voice he hung up and has not called back. We have restricted all her accounts and have booked to have her computer cleaned of the software. I also called the police who advised to report it to Scamwatch. As she did not actually pay him anything they apparently cannot trace him. The BSB he gave was 062 948. The account number he gave was 2438 2212. The name he gave was Nandish Balichakra.

I called the number after failed attempt to log in to PayPal a/c. Same scenario as the above. The hacker left the number to call back (02) 8091 6514 to be believed a legit PayPal employee’s direct number at Cyber security department. Said need to install a firewall on my computer to protect from hackers. Got access through team viewer to my computer. As a result I’ve lost $20K. Reported to police and the bank. I believe someone has been arrested in Melbourne. Don’t count on bank to investigate or recover the money. Been told my fault, no guarantee to recover the money from the receiver’s bank.

I gave them access to my computer, they said they need to install a firewall to protect my personal information from hackers. They had answers to all questions I’ve been asking. Gave me a landline phone number to call back and quote employee number. I’ve lost $20,000 before realizing a scam. Googled this number and came about this website. Reported to the police and they arrested a guy in Melbourne. Still investigating. Don’t expect much from my bank, been told not gonna get the money back from them because the money was transferred by me. Advised they are trying to recover from the 2 institutions the money has gone to. Don’t hold my breath. This should on every news to warn people not to fall into this trap.

As above, I called this number and a Indian man answered. He said the same blurb as to others and I am now awaiting a phone call back. After hanging up I just did not feel good about things. So I retried to log on and was successful. Googled this phone number and came back with all this feedback. Thank you everyone for your imput. Can't wait to hear from him to give him what for.

Paypal scam again!

Caller: Logging into Pay pal, said account was locked

Same as above. We rang and they claimed to be Pay pal security.
We lost $10,000.
as of 23/04/2020, they are now claiming to be Suncorp security

An aged friend was scammed by these people today.
They had her very scared.
These people have no morals.
I’m going over to check her computer for her tomorrow.

I tried to log into Pal Pay this morning, but got an error saying that there had been some suspicious activities on our account, so they have blocked it, and to call 1800 861 186, which I did, they said they would get some to call me back and help. I had a call back he checked my full name and asked a few question, then said if he got on through team view he could help. It was then I started to get some concerns I was about to do it when I said I would leave it until next week when I was in the office. My gut feeling was correct. It was a scam

Logged in to paypal and message came up that suspicious activity on my account and to phone above number. I phoned and then was asked to wait for a follow up call.
It came via a private number and so I asked the caller to verify that they were from Paypal by giving me their phone number. He became irate and attempted to get me to type in a web address via google. As my suspicions had been raised already this was a step too far. Hung up, changed password and reported to scam watch.

They sent an email saying that our paypal account was locked and we needed to ring and reset the details. They kept asking for more details then used that information to attempt to withdraw money from our accounts.Unfortunately, they were successful. they sounded polite and credible and convincing
