I was trying to reinstall Norton Security through the Norton website and when it wouldn't work within moments had a guy on the phone explaining he could help. I proceeded to let him help me and he checked why it wouldn't work and found a whole heap of malicious software (apparently). Told me he could fix and would I be interested in signing up for 3 yrs, 5 yrs or lifetime support and proceeded to tell me the $$. When I said not interested in paying anything now he said ok thank you and good luck. Lucky was able to read these comments before going any further.

Really Helpful ! Had a lot of issues with my computer and the guy fixed it for me. My computer is working better and with more security.
Thanks.
I dont understand why they have been given negative reviews when they have helped me on both my computers.

A question to any of the people who tried to install Norton above. Did these 'support calls' come when you were at the Norton website or at another site? These scammers often use the ad server software to launch these support scams from sites all over the web. If these ads were on the Norton website that would be particularly dangerous.

Well done to all those who smelled a rat and hung up.

Scam beware & return your Norton!
Same as some of the others above, trying to install Norton on new devices & hit issues. What I thought was Norton site live chat put me in touch with their technician who said I had issues with computer “malicious connections” and he would help me to remove issues and install Norton. I then agreed to a remote access session where he showed me all the occasions I had malicious activity and suggested this was very bad and needed extra protection. I questioned his legitimacy and he said call the number on Norton site and check his name and case number, it all seemed to link up legitimately so I foolishly agreed to purchase some security whilst he was linked and then he proceeded download the programs and run scans. It all looked legit whilst he was doing all this but my gut feeling got stronger and stronger and I grew more worried. I called the number from website to check and he answered, I asked how I could confirm he was legit and he said you called me through Norton website/number didn’t you. By now I was really concerned, I contacted cc company and cancelled card, they said it didn’t look right, so better to be safe.
Tried to get hold of Norton and surprise surprise no contact number, by now I pulled wifi and turned of pc.
I called Microsoft who had a number and their tech. removed the programs and talked me through some things.
Norton so good at protecting you that you get hacked trying to install their product and then can’t even get hold of them to try and get help whilst in mid hack.
I will never use Norton again!

Like the people above, trying to install Norton 360, couldn't do it, did the online chat, got a call from 0480 003 990 from John Miller, told me my two week old computer was corrupted after allowing remote access. Scam!! Beware!!

Same as almost everybody above. I tried to install Norton 360 on my new computer, was taken to the same message instructing me to ring this number, supposedly Norton tech help. Used a program called Teamviewer to take control of the computer, told me I had been hacked and he would fix my problems for a price. I said no and hung up, and immediately disabled Teamviewer access to my computer. How good can Norton be if they can't even stop themselves from being hacked??

Tried to install Norton but got an error message featuring this 1800 number. Minutes later my mobile rings - the man on the line had a very hard to understand Indian accent and claimed to be from Norton. He instructed me to download software so he could access my pc. I didn't like the sound of it but I did anyway. He then told me my pc was full of errors and needed upgrading to Windows 8 or 10 for $$$. I told him it sounds like a scam & disconnected. He called from 0480 034 990. I then called the 1800 791 820 just to confirm if I had received a call from Norton & be agreed. I still wasn't satisfied so I took my Norton back to Officeworks & was able to get a refund. Hopefully my pc hasn't been infected !

Looking at the above messages I suspect that there is a signal getting through to the people at this number to alert them that a person is downloading.
They called me when I was downloading an Office programme, asked if I needed help and claimed to be from the Microsoft Help team. I mistakenly assumed they were genuine and got stung for a programme called NST that I can't find anywhere on my computer.

Called who i thought to be Norton for assistance in installing my anti-virus software. Gave them access to my computer and they said my Windows needed to be updated to Windows 10. Have since charged me for two transactions that are not relating to Norton. Unfortunately I have been a victim. Have contacted my bank to dispute these charges.
