1800 491 819 ext 301. Posing as support member for Bigpond. I thought it was unusual that I did not have a person from India/Indonesia speaking to me. I asked where was he - he said Brisbane. He asked for my account # beginning with 2000. Then said he was going to have to scan all my devices because my account had been red flagged by someone using it in Catalina NSW. All I want is to reset my password for my bigpond account and it is turning into the worst drama!!!

Number is definitely being used by scammers identifying as representatives of Telstra and claiming to be support for BigPond email service.

They will ask for all sorts of personal info including your Telstra account number and so on.

The number at one time seems to have belonged to a legitimate cleaning services business but is now being used as a definite scam number.

Link to website which clearly displays the number and contains generalized copy and paste information along with several instances of pigeon English can be found at:

1800 491 819 saying he (Michael) was from Telstra to help with Bigpond issues. He said email had been hacked by someone in Catalina NSW and that a technician would call back in 15mins. Jack then called (02) 8317 3572 saying he was the technician and wanted us to give him access to our computer, new it was a scam straight away. Went to the Telstra shop the next day to inform them.

I also ph 1800 491 819 looking for Bigpond support, seemed very genuine and I even got a sms with an authentication code…….. This all came about when I switched child mobile from Kogan to Boost 7 days and it’s still not working. Dave Told me we had a Trojan and needed to do an analysis saying we were 93% infected. Dave also tried to sell me a monthly virus support it was at this point I was nah this is not right. Guess what I can’t ring Dave back to politely tell him to jam it. The real Telstra were brilliant and gave me a check list to follow 1 run virus scanner on device 2 call bank as a precaution 3 report using www.scamwatch.gov.au website and change all email passwords. Don’t trust Dave

Caller: said hi sname was Dave

I thought i was phoning Telstra Bigpond support as i was experiencing issues with my email account. They seemed genuine but then i got suspicious. They did get my name and date of birthday (silly me) and held me on the call for 15mins or so. It was only when they asked for my computer IP address for a one time connection i smelled a rat.

Be warned! as convincing as they appear they are scammers
