Clearly a scam if you have the 0 in front of 1800 as not a valid number - overstamped to trick you

This number is from Paypals Collections department. You may get a call from this number if you have a negative paypal balance and/or owe them money.

Source: was referred to call this number from a Paypal CSR agent.

7 calls in under 20mins, been going on every day for a week now. I don't answer unknowns or privates and they ring on this number and immediately follow with a private number. If they're legit they can leave a msg or bug off. They also ring from 011112000. Blocked what I can.

They constantly ring but don't leave a message. My actual PayPal account is not in negative but somebody from the UK tried to make 3 PayPal purchases on my account which didn't go thru as I took the money out of my bank account and when I lodged a complaint with PayPal they said seeing as payment wasn't completed there is no need for them to do anything even tho it was their stuff that got hacked. Now I won't use PayPal either because the last attempt was £500. And that's a lot of AUD. And if I didn't empty bank they would have it and I don't believe PayPal would help. I have received 3 EMAILS telling me my PayPal is also locked and to click this link to input details but there is no way I'm doing that. But like I said my actual PayPal says I'm $1 in credit so it's all a scam

Just Over It

Caller: Paypal? Scammers? Trolls?

They've been calling me daily and hourly at times, which goes against Australian Consumer Law standards of three contacts a week. If they don't hang up immediately, after a long pause they will ask if I'm X person... and then hang up (how do they know my name?)

I blocked their phone number and Googled it. The number appears to be an official PayPal phone number and I saw comments saying it's related to negative account balances. Coincidentally, for the first time in my life, my PayPal balance had actually fallen into the negative at that time. I settled the outstanding amount immediately and left their phone number on block.

A week later - which is today - I thought I'd unblock their number and see what would happen. They're still calling hourly! If they really were PayPal, like they say they are, they would KNOW I've paid the outstanding amount in full last week. That's a huge red flag to be honest. But if they actually are Paypal's official Debt Recovery Specialists, it's the most inefficient debt recovery program on the planet.

I'm in negative balance on my Paypal, so it isn't a coincidence. This *is* paypal calling you and not a scam. If they get your name wrong, its because your number may be linked to a paypal account that uses said name

I got the same call and answers it, no answer. Then try and call them back and the number isn’t connected.

It’s a massive scam ignore it.

yes it is Pay Pal if you have a negative balance which is what most people have OR if you owe them money which only occurs if they make an error

They called me due to negative balance, my PayPal was negative balance.
They knew the amount and knew my name & knew the last 4 digits of my Visa card.
Wasn’t a scam at all. I told them I’d pay it right then and they were happy with that and the call was ended.

They call me many times even after I said I owe them nothing.
I will have them charged for harassment now because they are just being ignorant and arrogant people.

I was hassled repeatedly from the 01800 162 432 number, so decided to call 1800 162 432 and got connected to Paypal Collections. I have an overdue balance on Paypal.

I'd say don't answer the 01800 162 432 number.

It's a number for Paypal's debt resolution centre. My account was in a negative balance, I transferred money a week ago which was still processing, and he looked up my transaction history, told me what day I had transferred and how much. He then said he'd make a note of it so I stopped getting the calls. So far I haven't had any new calls. It's legit.

As said, it IS paypals number, but the 0 in front makes it a non valid number, and after picking up multiple times and getting no response and being hung up on after seconds I highly doubt it's legitimate. Also recieved calls from the same number with 3 0s in front. Blacklist them.

The beat idea is to block this number, no matter what your paypal issue may be. It is to do with negative balances, but even after yiu pay uo and settle they still continue to harrass. There is mo way to report this because paypal, like most vast corporations, make it ad difficult as pissible for you to contact them. They want to know everything about you but prefer anonymity themselves. I always ask callers to send a cerified copy of their birth certificates, passport, or drivers licence when the issue is to do with money, or if they ask me for personal details

Update: Although my small negative balance has been completely resolved they continued calling several times a day so I decided I needed to contact PayPal. I logged into my account and used the messaging system under "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page. Within a day, I received an apology from PayPal confirming it's their internal collections department and that a note will be placed on my account to stop calling me. A few hours later I received an email from PayPal confirming all restrictions had been lifted. All good, right? Nope.

It's week 3 now and they are STILL calling me over a negative balance that was settled weeks ago. It's down to about 3-4 calls a day now though. I've contacted PayPal again to ask them to put an end to it. I really don't see the point of a collections department constantly harassing a customer with a fully paid account.

I missed a call from 01800 162 432 so was suspicious given the previous posts. I picked up the second call and it was Paypal saying they were calling to collect a debt (I did have a negative balance yesterday, which I immediately resolved). She quickly corrected herself after checking my account and said I had no debt. I was happy with the call.
