While there are scams being done by people claiming to be Vigil Fraud Bureau, the same website (tmbank.com.au) says they use the services of Fraud Bureau, with that (legit) phone number. Hang up and call that number, they say:
We have been made aware of scam calls being made to cardholders by people identifying themselves as Vigil Fraud Bureau employees.
The Fraud Bureau service will ask identifying questions, to ascertain that they are talking to the correct people, one of these questions may be your card number.
If you are unsure of the authenticity of the call, you are to hang up and ring back the toll free number of 1300 705 750 or (02) 8299 9534 (if overseas) to clarify that they need to speak to you.
This is not a scam.
They are an Australian Fraud detection company.
I had a missed call from them. I called my bank (AMP) and they confirmed that this was the number of their fraud department.
Seems my credit card had been compromised and they were able to cancel it and order a new card for me.
Don't ignore them.
If you are unsure call your bank and seek confirmation from them.
A SCAM - definiteIy!! I received a call from this number today. They left a message saying my credit card was on hold and that I had to call back with my membership number. They knew my first name, the last 4 digits of my card and rang my unlisted mobile. I rang the number back but something about the recorded message made me feel uncomfortable, so I rang my bank. I was told it was not their fraud line and nothing was out of order with my account or card. I am hoping my bank reports it. Very scary. This is a scam. All those other ones that told you that it wasn't can go back to school. This is a scam number - https://www.tmbank.com.au/about/member-news/2015/vigil-fraud-bureau-alert-telephone-scam Not a scam, blocked a US transaction from an online company. Small amount that they call a testing transaction to see if the card works. Getting a new card sent out. My bank said it was legit and they were also in the phone call. 1300 705 750 is the direct line to the Financial Institution Cuscal Ltd, They offer fraud and card monitoring services 24/7 Australia wide for a multitude of banks and credit unions. They are a legitimate company and it would be in most peoples best interests to return the call as they likely leave blocks on the card they are querying. If in doubt it is always best to contact your own financial institution and say you received a call from the vigil fraud team.
Hope this eases some worries, if you are experiencing any issues with your card its likely they are preventing transactions until they verify the transaction in question.
