Left a voicemail but didn’t introduce themselves or what company they represent.

Caller: "St George Auto Finance"

They called, no number ID, I answered, they asked my name, mispronounced it, and I said "speaking". She quickly said she was calling from St George Auto Finance. I haven't had a car in over 19 years. She asked for my full name and account details for security purposes. I told her "for security purposes, I'm going to hang up".

Caller: Bank of Melbourne

Answer this call. They are calling to chase missed payment/s for loans. Is not a scam!

This is totally a scam, they say I’ll just keep calling until you pay default, we are advance in payments.

Caller: Unknown

For the last month I have received 5 x phone calls from an unknown number. Even on the weekend. Today they left a voicemail requesting I call back on 1300 653 553. These calls are driving me mad, but I refuse to answer unknown numbers. Stop calling me. Seriously considering changing my phone number.

After seeing the messages posted here. I called St George Customer Service on 13 33 30. The person I spoke with said that the number isn't one of their numbers, and she reported it to their internal hoax/security department. They also advised to never call back unsolicited numbers, so kudos to them.

Yes definitely St George or whoever they have been bought out by now. Melbourne Bank etc.
I have a car loan and they left a message to call this number after I made an enquiry about my payment. So all good folks.

Sent text informing me my direct debit for my account (non-existent) has not been received and to contact to avoid fees. SCAM!!!

Caller: Debt Collectors on behalf st George

They are calling on behalf of St George. They are other company which they will not disclose and only call on behalf of St George they do not have access to all of the information that they need to give you on your account ie say as if you had two separate debts car insurance loan or credit card. The only have access to one. And if there's any questions that you have you have to call the bank directly itself it's ridiculous. This was to do with loans I'm not sure if another agency deals with credit card.
I have not had really great dealings with them they gave me the incorrect information which led to 8 months worth of fighting with them over insurance on my loan.
They threatened to repossess my car after giving me the details for the insurance a product that they sold on my loan contact details and my account number there Only to find out that the company does not exist. The information they were giving me was the car dealers Australian finance number and not the actual insurance number for the loan.
Then gave me two weeks after them hustling me and fighting with me for 8 months stating that the number that they gave me and the business doesn't exist it is ridiculous.
Now they call me on private number which goes straight to voicemail they can threaten all they like I respond when I'm ready seeing they screwed me around for 8 months

People are ignorant sometimes, if they call they can't identify themselves unless they identify you first. It's a privacy act as they can't disclose info to the wrong person. People take out a loan with a car yard then the car yard uses say St George for example to finance the car so when the buyer gets a call from St George and says I don't even have anything with St George, well yes you do its your car. You just didn't know that the car dealer used St George. Got it?

Caller: Capital Finance

Said they were from Capital Finance and asked to speak to a director, they had no name just a call back number?

Todays "unknown caller" (multiple over the past few days) left a voice message with a "case number" and asked me to call them back on 1300 653 554. I have no loans, nor any dealings ever with St George or Capital - so I decided to call anyway. The hold message gives no business name, they mention a website but give no website name. I gave the quoted "case number" to the person. He asked for my name - I told him he should know - they just called me and left a message with that case number! So he searched my ph number and found no record of a call being made (??). He asked if I changed numbers recently, but I've had the number for around 17 yrs. He also had nothing to say about the "case number" I gave. He advised if I've had no accounts with Capital Finance or St George, then to disregard the call. Very very strange.

This is a legit call - don't know if you guys notice but most scammers actually call from Aus mobiles or landlines - Could be StGeorge, Bank of Melbourne, Westpac or Capital Finance. Pay your bills and you wont get calls - Simple

Legit! Collection agency for St George banking. Alerted me to an accidental underpayment (incorrect direct debit) and provided a bpay code and reference. I called the bank directly and they confirmed all the details. Online account also had the same details. Bpay code and reference was correct.

Caller: She said she is from St george bank

She said she is from St George bank but i am not St George bank customer, she want to verify my ID i told her why I need it as i didnt do banking with you, she generae a txt message ask to call back, after google its company call Capital finance: https://www.capitalfinance.com.au/contact-us overdue account debt collection no. i got no idea about it?!

Caller: ST George Automated voice message

for the past month I have been receiving private calls from an automated voice message saying they are from St George, stating my name and asking me to dial 1 if I am the person in question. I ignored the many calls and kept receiving follow-up sms messages advising I have an outstanding debt. I phoned St george as I have an everyday banking account with them however they advised they knew nothing about it and could not see a debt owing. I replied to the SMS and asked for the BPAY details and when i searched the biller ID 969964 it was in fact St George. I googled the number they listed on the SMS to phone them back and came across this page, so instead phoned the automotive finance number listed on their page. Turns out this is not a scam and I did owe money. I didn't know because it has been auto debited for a long time. Also, the phone operator advised that they work on behalf of the bank and doesn't know why the number is not listed on their website. I am still glad I did thorough vetting before making any payments. I am also still waiting on a TL to phone back before I make the payment.

I have confirmed with the Bank of Melbourne, this is not a real call from them, so although it says it is chasing home loan payments, it is not real. Bank of Melbourne have suggested reporting it to police as a scam.
