West Coast Field Services, calling you because you're probably registered on their website for surveys/research groups/field studies (some you can be paid for); NOT a telemaketing company nor a scam, 100% legitimate. Your input will affect certain things e.g. they'll show you a few ads produced by some company (usually charities/synergy/western power etc.), ask you which one you like best and why, they'll send results to said company and they'll use this info to choose which advertisement to publish/air on tv/radio etc.

Ive since discovered that this company is employed by other companies to do their research. Just doing there job. I guess my complaint is with the company that employs them to carry out the survey. My apologies to this research company. I still dont like the intrusive nature of these calls when our home time is extremely limited, but i see the bigger picture of what this company is about.

This number showed up as a missed call today. After seeing so many complaints about it on reverseaustralia, I phoned Telstra's unwelcome calls number 1800 805 996) and arranged to have it blocked. Telstra only blocks calls for its own customers but a good part of its service is that it can also put a block on all overseas calls if that option suits you.

Market Research - Does not fall under Do Not Call register, they can call you.
If you use a whistle on them they will call the police and have you charged with assault.
Genuine research only. There are two reasons you may get a call, 1) At some time in the past you have said that you want to join the inhouse database and get invites to PAID focus groups. If you have changed your mind, that's fine, politely tell the call operator to take you off the list. 2) They are calling to ask you to do a survey (not because you have DONE a survey). How did they get your number? Most usual way, it is publicly listed and you live in a suburb of interest to the survey. Phone numbers are way more portable than they used to be so your suburb will be checked with a question at the beginning of the survey. Not publicly listed? Then they are probably calling on behalf of a company you deal with, eg. health insurance, super, a government department. The phone numbers are generated fresh for each survey job, there is no "list" however if you ask to be taken off the "list" you will be put in as a refused and the calls will stop. Numbers are never saved for future use, so don't abuse your company that provided the number, it is a legitimate use of it and they are allowed to do so by law. If your number is answered by an answering machine they hang up because it is an outbound call centre and quite difficult to feed calls into, but possible if you really want to. If you say, "I was just stepping out" or "I'm busy" or some other polite fob off you will get a call back because you haven't said no. Anything other than a dead end ie disconnected or a refusal gets call backs. The quickest way to stop the calls is to take it and say, politely because you are talking to a human, no. There are some situations where a company HAS to survey the local population before setting up shop, alcohol stores are one. So if you hang up on them and get a grog shop set up across the road from you, you deserve it. The hours & days they are allowed to call are strictly regulated and scrupulously observed. And when, as does happen from time to time, you get a call late at night because they think you are in WA and actually you are in the East coast try not to yell too loudly, because, believe it or not, the call operator already feels really bad about having disturbed you. I know this was long but now you know - tell your friends.

Firstly they don’t call unsolicited.
I’ve bern on their database for years and have been paid well for focus groups,
They call outside hours as most people can’t answer during work time.
I like their calls as it usually means I’m into an easy focus group with at least $80 coming my way.

Claiming to be doing a survey on bush fire awareness and the first question asked was which suburb did I live in? It may have been genuine but I don't respond to cold callers.
