I have had a couple of calls from them, too - first one I just hung up. I am now retired and carry an injury, so it's not a welcome call for me! So, I played along, saying Thank goodness you rang, I've been wondering about my compensation. When was the accident? Oh, in Feb, and yes, both cars totalled, the other three people were badly injured, too, so what is happening with my compensation? Very quickly put onto a 'supervisor' who also questioned me, re make of car, date of accident, etc - then told me I should be speaking to the insurance company, not them. But, but, but you rang me wanting to tell me about my compensation he he he. I've become one of their worst nightmares - hung up on me, but I kept them from harassing anyone else for a few minutes. The Richmond Group rang me today and I ended up swearing and telling them to get their info from somewhere else - I told them a heap of lies. I've been harassed by another mob, who I swore at and told them to get a real job - and they rang back 4 times only to hang up (perhaps they didn't like being sworn at). Reported them to the police, who had a good laugh when I told her about swearing at them - unfortunately very common and nothing they can do.

These people also called me and when I grilled them about whether it was market research or not they swore it wasn't but would not tell me what the company did. They said I might be eligible of something free (couldn't understand the accent). I asked if my partner and I didn't work, would we be eligible for the freeby and the answer was no. This has rip off written all over it".......hang up. This is their way around "do not call" register.

I had a call from 'Michael' at the Richmond Group. He wanted to know if I work and if my partner works. He wanted to know if I was under 55, and when I said that was personal information, he insisted it was only a survey designed to 'help working people'. I finally had to tell him that I'd do something inappropriate to his mother to make him enter a tirade and finally hang up. It's good sport if you're up for it. The more time I spend wasting his, the less time he has to spend catching someone gullible.

sometimes i'm tempted to meet with the "licenced advisor" just to see how they recommend i reduce my tax bill. Are the just going to tell me about negative gearing?
Has anyone actually had one of these visits??

Yes this is the same number I was given yesterday from a supposed Absolute Advisory Group based in Adelaide. Actually that was a lie because the call I got came from overseas so eventually the caller admitted he was calling from Asia. They wanted my address to send me some info but coudn't email it. Very dodgy person called from Asia. Do not give any info out to these scammers. Next thing they will turn up at your doorstep and start demanding money.

Call from the Richmond Group female with a heavy accent. Same line are we both working, our names (gave names that trigger scammers to us), and our address. Waiting to hear what comes next - like the idea of a whistle.

Got a call from "Michael" from the Richmond Group today. Instantly knew it was a dodgy call, but I like to have a bit of fun. He started asking me about if I had a home loan, how long I expected to pay off, kept saying they weren't selling anyone, it wasn't financial advice, just supplying information to pay off home loan faster, and all they wanted was feedback if it worked.
I asked for a website for the info, but he said that someone would drop off to me. Then starts suggesting that the person will talk to me on the strategies. They said that person would talk to me about the strategies. I asked for their name so that I could look them up on the ASIC financial adviser register, and a copy of their financial services guide, given that they are offering financial services. He didn't answer but just repeated his speal again. When I asked for their Australian Financial Services Licence and ABN so that I could do a company search.....he hung up.....I was just starting to have fun too.

Just got a heavily accented call purporting to be from "The Richmond Group" supposedly surveying working people in my area. Non of the standards survey stuff about recording calls for training and call back numbers. Googled them and the only result was this page so told her it sounded dodgy and I didn't want to give her my details. Definitely not legit!

Constant calls ..."Josh" from the "Brooklyn Group". I kept asking for ABN with, of course, no luck. He said to call 1800 509 222 to get that information and surprise surprise... its not connected.

They use another number in Victoria (03) 9562 6415. Nice that an Indian call centre has an Aussie number

The Richmond Group rang me and asked about my work times. I suspect they are planning to break in when I'm out. Not nice at all.

Just received a call from a woman claiming to work for the Richmond Group. She asked me whether I work, and whether my husband works, before asking for my age. I asked her twice why she is in need of my personal information, in which she replied was for 'demographics' in my area. She kept on saying that there were only 30 seconds left of the interview. Finally, I told her I wasn't interested in what she was doing, and I hung up. Before I know it, she's calling me again! She called me twice since and both times I haven't picked up.

Told the guy he didn't have permission to call me, my number is private and I want it removed from his list, told him the same thing several times as he kept trying to talk over me, before he THREATENED me with "I'm not removing your number and I'm going to call you 100 times a day!" before hanging up on me!!! Way to really piss me off.... now where did I put that whistle..........

I think I have the handle on this as have had numerous calls and actual visits twice. The call company ring and ask very brief survey questions, working and owning own home. They then call back a few weeks later and say from the survey you are eligible to receive tax advice. My impression is that the 2 call system is a way of getting around legalities of just cold-calling and trying to book a personal visit.
The first guy that came round was from a real estate development sales company, completely unrelated to the callers. After 2 minutes of hearing about our investment sophistication he said he was wasting both our times, politely apologised and left.
The second time the caller (on interrogation) swore it was a representative of his own company and arranged a visit also swearing it wasn't to simply try and sell an investment property.
The second guy was again not from the callers company and did want to sell a simple investment property so the caller blatantly lied (obviously this was no surprise).
Essentially the call company get paid per interview arranged and do not care what they have to say to get it.
I told the most recent caller, Richmond, (out of curiosity) that the advisor could ring and give some basic details before they could have an appointment). After wriggling on the hook for a few minutes the caller finally said they would arrange such contact but I am sure it will not happen.

Yes got call the second now. Asked for husband by name also asked if we both worked. Claimed to be working for the government. Husband told them four times he was not interested. I told him to hang up. Also told him to say that if they were working for the government there are laws in place now that they are not allowed to ring at dinner time. I am mean so maybe that's why they ask for him.
