@ people being hung up on:these guys are getting call after call after call, you just happened to be a person they didn't want to speak to, so you're left to wonder wtf has happened while they take a smoke break.

rings everyday, never leavesa message and sometime 2 to 3 times. dont know the number so not answering, but is really annoying. I not with Optus whats up with that?

Just had a call from this number. Have been with Optus for ~7 years. Contract expired about 6 months ago. I did make a double payment on my bill 2-3 weeks ago, so they might be calling about that (if there's actually anyone on the end of the line). But I certainly don't waste my time ever calling Optus back.

I called the number back, got the automated message. Took down the 133345 number, called THEM - Optus sales and waited and waited. I finally got through. I asked to not be contacted again. "No problem" they said "No future sales or marketing calls via sms, voice or email". Great I thought. 24hrs later...they called again. This time I answered the call and put my phone back in my pocket. Figured they'd get the picture. I called them again, same process... I just got off the phone with them. Registered the complaint again. Spoke with a shift supervisor whose tone could only be described as SNIDE. I threated to shift carriers and report them to the Telecommunucations Industry Ombudsman. 1800 062 058) "Yes" he said, "we can take you off the list, but it will take 4 - 6 weeks". I did my nut and demanded compensatory credit. I got $100 in bonus credit that will expire in 30 days. I called the TIO and registered a suspended complaint, so if there are problems I have a complaint in the system. Incidently, Optus claimed that the "Do not call" register doesn't apply, because they're only calling Optus customers- that's according to the TIO as well. I can only encourage people to call the TIO to make a complaint- 1800 062 058. Apparently the TIO can contact someone at Optus who has the power to make the process go more swiftly than 6 weeks.
