If the debt has been on-sold to Lion Finance and Lion Finance are calling you to repay the debt, guess what?? All payments you make to GE will be forwarded to Lion Finance within 30 days so you're paying them anyway, just not directly :D :D :D

Peter, if they are calling you it's for one of two things. As they are a debt purchase company, they call debtors. If you have a debt that has been on-sold to them, they will call you to organise payments of your debt. The other reason they may be calling you for is that you may be a referee for someone or a third party that may know of the customer and they got your number from skip tracing (Google skip tracing if this term is unfamiliar). Low lifes, no. They are merely doing their job and collecting debt from people who failed to pay the original creditor. They only get debt from creditors if there has been no payments for 180+ days. If you have no debt unpaid, just answer the phone and if you have no info to provide them. guess what.. They won't call again.

Claire with advice for Lion Finance calls

Posted on June 3, 2016

Okay so these people truly are the lowest life debt collectors and they love especially to harass females...they are under direction to make a certain number of calls a day....yes I had a debt with a bank and Lion Finance bought the debt! more fool them as they will never ever, ever, get their money back from me...they can call my neighbour down the street, they can call my workplace (which they did until I advised the receptionist to tell them that they are disturbing my work place and to never call again) they can even knock on my door....ADVICE for you all...don't own up to anything, don't give them your name or birth date even if some 7 foot intimidating debt collector they have paid for asks for you...just say no I don't know what you are talking about and will not give you any information...after 5 years the debt cannot be chased..it does not exist...so ignore, block, refuse their calls, do not ever be intimidated and they will ultimately LOSE!

Lion "Harrasing" Finance

I can confirm, that this number pertains to this company (name). They WILL harrass you regardless if you have a debt or not, suggest taking note of how many times they call per day. If it exceeds 10/day, take it to the ACCC & ACMA & try to take it up with their parent company as well.

If they are requesting details of a person that is not related to your number (I.E. a person down the road or otherwise), advise them that you or your family is not associated with said person - REMOVE ME FROM YOUR SCAM/SPAM LIST, otherwise play around with them :), i.e. offer completely bogus info, refer to bogus data, etc. to try to put them completely off calling again.

Or you could always do what I've done to some other company (no company said - illegal to do so according to the ACMA site :), i told them to remove me from their scam list and never call again. Just have to wait and see what happens :(. But if i get another call relating to it, i will be requesting every bit of information the reciever has the right to ask (thank you ACMA), which will be written and recorded - oh, these types of calls regardless are to have their number sent - i.e. NO PRIVATE NUMBERS ALLOWED! If private number, get as much info as possible - report them to the ACMA, ACCC and any other type of "system" out their for breach of telecommunications conduct. You can literally have them there. The ACMA/ACCC will fine them big time for using a private number - number from where they are calling from MUST be visible and "returnable".

Cheers and good luck.

P.s. go to the ACMA site and look for the telemarketing code, this will give you a bit of information relating to allowable times when telemarketing and research calls can and cannot be made.

Cheers,
SM - Previously in debt with Westpac - forwarded to LION FINANCE....... enough said.

Do your homework people,, best advise ever and this scumbag company and everyone that is brainwashed with training knows it,ignore all calls that you do not know, if it's important they will leave a message.
What this company doesn't want you to know is that if everyone in Australia ignored there pathetic harrasing phone calls, I mean everyone , this company would honestly go bankrupt.

Hey Paula, don't tell them anything. They have no rights at all. They have to prove to you who they are. If your debt is with a different company then tell them that you have NO CONTRACTS with them and hang up.

They just rang me and asked did I live in P Court. I said who. And then he asked for Ben M and I said wrong number. And he asked if I lived in Castlemaine and I said no. And then he asked if I lived in P Court I said no and then he said sorry and hung up. I know who Ben M is and I am not about to tell him that. They can do their own dirty work.

i had a very rude call from one of their operators for the first time today trying to extort money from me claiming i had an unpaid debt with ANZ banking Australia, i phoned ANZ and asked them to check their records using my details to see if i had ever held or applied for an account with them. They informed me that there was no record of either myself or my family members ever dealing with them and would i be interested in opening an account.

Constant harassment from staff from Lion Finance pertaining to someone who used to occupy the telephone number prior to me. They call morning, noon and night from various different numbers demanding my name, address and DOB after they've been told there is no one present by the name of the person they're seeking. Very rude & disrespectful !

There SERIOUSLY needs to be some rules put in place to stop companies like these taking wild inaccurate guesses as to the Debtor attached to debts they buy - then unnecessarily and inefficiently harassing, insulting, being rude to and wasting the time of innocent people who have NOTHING to do with the debt and are FED UP with these completely incompetent morons!

Yes I owe them money but I have an agreement with them which I am honoring. But yet every few months they start harassing me saying I have missed a payment. I have not. This is causing stress between me and my partner. I am sick of it. They call my mobile (which I don't answer when its them) and now my land line. I have taken to leaving it off the hook.

This is lion finance - they use a lot of different numbers trying to get you to answer your phone. If you don't know the number, don't answer it -if it is a legit call they will leave a message and Lion Finance never do. They will hunt you down like a dog even if you aren't the person they are after. They will use the electoral roll, facebook pages, internet searches, anything to get hold of a person with a certain name. They will call work, neighbours, friends, parents to get you to call them. Simply deny the debt, don't give them your date of birth and don't give them any details - you have no idea these people are who they say they are - anyone could ring you and say "I am from xyz, you owe me money, please confirm your date of birth and full name, then use your details to steal your identity. Lion Finance are the lowest of the low and are in continual trouble with ASIC, ACCC and Trade Practices because of their tactics, they need to be deregistered.

I obviously have a re-hashed mobile number thanks Telstra, they have been over the last year constantly contacting me regarding a man that I do not know and have never heard of. Again told them I use my phone for work too so go away....they are still plaguing me.
