Not a scam. This is actually westpac - it's an internal department that handles things like loans etc - usually asking for information (I received a call from the number then called Westpac back and they confirmed that they did call me at the time I had recorded).

Also had a call from "Westpac" went into the branch and they said anyone can record the Westpac answering to make you think you have called the bank, when you try the number and it is a scam as they did not know about the so called deal the person who phoned was talking about. Always ask for the 1300 number to call back on or the website number, not the number left on your mobile.

This is definitely not a scam. This number is the Westpac outbound team located in their Adelaide call centre. They are calling existing customers. If you are concerned, ask for their salary number. You can then call Westpac and ask if that number is for a current employee. It's wise to be careful about your details however this phone number is legitimate.

Someone who said he was William from "Westpac" called and said he needed all my ID to identify me as he was calling about a letter they had sent. Wouldn't say what the letter was about until he could identify me. Told him to bugger off and hung up. Another scam marketeer or worse
