My wife got a call from Lauren Williams claiming she was from Telstra International saying that my internet connection was causing viruses to be downloaded into the system as we were doing illegal downloads and she needed access to my computer or my internet connection would be cancelled. Nice try as we don't illegally download anything.

I got the same call. I called telstra and they advised it was a scam.

Got a call out of the blue claiming they are the Telstra technical department and my internet connection is corrupt and will be disconnected unless I fix the corrupted files, they then try to access my computer, not a good idea, I asked for verification that they are who they say they are, the answers were not convincing so I asked for the callers name and phone number and I would call back, her name is Mary Wilson and the number is (08) 8120 0549 which brings me here. it smells of a scam, be aware.
