DEFINITELY DONT CLICK ON ANYTHING AND DONT RING THE NUMBER

HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON ON YOUR COMPUTER UNTIL IT TURNS OFF. IT MAY TAKE UP TO 10 SECONDS.

NOW WAIT 30 SECONDS, THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND ALL SHOULD BE OK .

IF YOU LET THEM INTO YOUR COMPUTER, RING THE BANK AND TELL THEM.

Caller: People Posing as "Microsoft

A message popped up on my daughter's computer saying they were microsoft and to call them as they have detected people trying to access our IP. I shouldn't have called them! They said they were going to refund me for the store not installing their software properly and asked me to fill out my bank details.

Caller: "Microsoft" internet fraud and ransomware or malware refund Pop Up Message on computer

Do not call this number even if pops up on your computer!

Click out of it even if they try and freeze your computer. They claim are "Microsoft" virus protection and want to run a block from you and refund you money. They are just after your bank account details.

If anyone gets remote access to your computer. Shut down your computer. Clear your browser history, change your passwords - facebook and hotmail, back-up ay important data, turn-off your wi-fi on your phone or if you have another computer and get a computer tech to fully wipe your hardware (not re-set as it may still contain the virus).

THIS IS A SCAM - Do not call this number or talk to anyone from this number. You will see a pop up on your computer advising to call this number for Microsoft Support, it is fake and they will then ask you to allow them to remotely connect to your computer as your PC has been compromised. This is also fake. Hang up, it is an Indian call center.

Similar to above. Locked my computer. Said they were Microsoft and could fix it I called the number and was suspicious. Hung up shut down computer against their advice. Turned back on ,still same problem. Disconnected from internet and turned computer back on. So far so good. I wonder by having my IP address etc if I’ll get some problems later.
Seriously wish some smart techo would take these guys out using online explosions and blow there sneaky spyware or what ever up. There should be a worldwide systematic smashing of these holes who delight in exploiting people. It needs to be at government level but a good start would be some smart techos. Go get em.

Caller: Provided this number after error message on computer

This number is given as the number to call Windows to unlock computer - don't use it.
Instead follow the advice above - shut the computer down completely.
Restart and if you haven't clicked on anything it should be okay but if you want to be extra safe, change your passwords.
