I returned a missed call, got an "arhem" then silence. I kept saying hello but silence. I hung up then called back in case it was a bad line.. thick accent "customer service, can I help you?" 'I'm returning a missed call?', long pause..echoing background clearly a call centre- then an exchange something like-"this is eBay customer service we are going to cancel your transaction as there was a problem" ' but I haven't made a transaction?' "you haven't?... that is why we are going to cancel it and block this person from making further transactions" 'right...? ..What was the purchase?' "a giftcard..So, is the phone you are calling from an iPhone?" 'um, You have no need to know that, I'm going to hang up now because I don't think this is a genui...' "click" she hung up.... I could hear a delay and my own voice coming back, might have been a loudspeaker training call as the previous girl sat like a stunned mullet.. I suspect they were attempting to data mine me to sell my details for sales spam..I'm expecting iPhone crap already..

Just happened to me - the eBay gift card story. What I want to know is where they get the details from and how we get action taken against them ? They are using an Australian land line number.

Much the same as this post
"I returned a missed call, got an "arhem" then silence. I kept saying hello but silence. I hung up then called back in case it was a bad line.. thick accent "customer service, can I help you?" 'I'm returning a missed call?', long pause..echoing background clearly a call centre- then an exchange something like-"this is eBay customer service we are going to cancel your transaction as there was a problem" ' but I haven't made a transaction?' "you haven't?... that is why we are going to cancel it and block this person from making further transactions" 'right...? ..What was the purchase?' "a giftcard.."
Eventually I asked too many questions and she hung up on me

I received a call from this number to my mobile today, when I answered an automated voice said that my account was being debited $200. As soon as I heard that I simply hung up the phone. Haven't heard anything back since

They advise that your account (E-bay or similar) is being debited and to press 1 to talk to someone.

i missed a call from this number on my mobile so called back on the landline to see who it was from. Answered by a women (very hard to understand) Said someone from this number had ordered an ebay gift card. As I said, it wasn't even the number they called! I told her no I hadn't ordered a gift card and she then wanted to get all my personal details so the card could be cancelled. I hung up at that point!
