Mate of mine just asked me to see who's number has been calling him continuously, these guys.... After reading the comments, creepy.

Same crap here, don't answer. They finally gave up.

Same, rang three times, did not leave message. I called them back and got recorded message saying it was a TSA Telco group http://www.tsagroup.com.au/, calling to talk about products and services that may be of interest to me.

I've received calls from this number multiple times but when I ring it back it says that the number has been disconnected.

Same as others - rings - I don;t answer becuase I do not know the number - this is from 10th Sept 2012

Rings for 3 rings before stopping. Really annoying

This number has called me about dour time in the past week, I'm usually at work in the morning or night so I don't answer it. Will thy ever atop calling

2 missed calls. I never answer numbers I don't know, but they always hang up after a few rings before it hits voicemail

This seems like a phone phishing (pronounced fishing) scam, do not give out personal details, I have had this number ring at least three times as well.
There is also another number marked private and sometimes overseas that rings claiming to be form "fair trading commission" representing your bank saying that the bank has overcharged you $3000 in bank frees and that the government are paying it back to you if you give them $300 (10%), they will ask you for your card details, never give out your bank account details i.e account number, expiry date, they may even know some of these already but don't be fooled into thinking they are genuine, my mother was called by these guys and she gave them her details, I was there so I told her to ring the bank, it was not true and they cancelled her card right away thankfully.
This scam relies on the fact that people always feel the bank charges to much and that the government will fix it.
Also never believe someone on the phone claiming to be from "Windows" (its not even the right name, its Microsoft!) and saying that your computer is slow cause of viruses (I my experience everyone thinks there computer is to slow), Microsoft let alone "Windows" will never call you, email if your lucky, they will put viruses in to gain personal information.

No voice, no sound at all when I answered - I hung up after 15 seconds of hello'ing.

Several missed calls from this number now. The phone number looked suspect to me so, I didn't answer it nor return the call. Same as all the other posts - only short ring time, 2-3 rings then hang up.

I have been having multiple calls from this number on a daily basis for about the last week. Only rings a few times, once it was only one ring. Always stops just when I am about to press 'talk'. Weird. And from what John says, sounds like someone is up to no good. I wish it would stop.

I had a call just now, claiming to be from Telstra but it was clearly dodgy. She asked me about my plans, I said "shouldn't you know that if you are from telstra?" And she hung up.

Have had several calls from (08) 6217 2710 over the past few weeks. Either rings 2 or 3 times and then stops, or if I answer they hang up. This can happen a few times a day or not at all for a few days and then starts again. The once that I called back it had a busy sound. It's extremely annoying!!

Just had one of these. Same scenario as John (above, 27 Jul 2012) describes.

(08) 6217 2710 is from the WA.number range but doesn't necessarily mean that the caller is based there.

Caller said he was calling "on behalf of Telstra," ie he didn't claim he was from Telstra. If he's telling the truth, this suggests he has some sort of contract with Telstra.

Had 3 calls from this number this afternoon, and as I am disabled am unable to get to phone quickly (as my cordless no longer works) it is extremely annoying and frustrating to get these calls that only let it ring 5 or 6 times then hang up.

this no is not known to me.
am also on the do not call register but it doesn't stop people ringing

Unsolicited call - am on Do Not Call register. Does not seem to make a difference here
