Calls from this number are absolutely a scam. I received one today, which is what led me here. Criminals using that number are dialing and hanging up using robo-call software to validate 'live' (in-use) numbers that then, once validated (i.e. answered by a human being), are aggregated with thousands of other numbers and on-sold to other criminal organisations for use in phishing attacks and phone-porting scams. If you Google 'phone-porting scams', you'll see plenty from the ABC and Sydney Morning Herald on this issue. Be VERY CAREFUL to observe your phone -- if it unexpectedly displays 'SOS calls only' when you're in a clearly good phone reception area, then someone has very likely criminally ported your mobile phone number to another mobile provider by impersonating you for the purpose of intercepting two-factor authentication codes from your bank. At that point you'll have to move with lightning speed to tell your bank since it takes criminals mere minutes to empty a victim's bank account by transferring funds to accounts operated by the criminals. Once the money is gone, it rarely is recovered and we all end up paying through fees and changes to make up the loss. Yes - (07) 5405 9553 is a SCAM and I wish the AFP and Interpol could catch and expose these criminal bastards.

I just got the same call. A woman with a Scottish accent told me I've been involved in a car accident. I was confused and hanged up. I called them back, and she told me she got my name and number from an 'accident database'. Bullsh*t! Does anyone know how to report it to Police?

i contacted a lawyer/s and because they couldn't help me - i get listed on a database...

the lawyers contacted can be described as ; red background and white text - starts with B; ex footballer in TV ads; and - someone whom was going to give me a free book if I contacted them so I could learn how to get maximum justice.

Isn't it amazing whats missing in fake news these days - truth in ads never was a concern (how many of you knew you would be listed into a database after being mislead by legal professionals)

Scammers - claiming that I have had an accident in the last 12 months - which I haven't had. Can't somebody close these guys down? You could hear in the background a whole room of people making this same call.

I called them back whilst reading this page. They knew me name immediately and mentioned what was said here before about being in an accident. I pretended that I had been in a horrific accident as a pedestrian and am still unable to walk, really put on the sob story. When they mentioned about outstanding payment that they would like to take care of I replied that it is fine because I don't mind paying it from my $10mil payout... then I asked for an invoice and gave them my address 321 Scum Lane Scammerville

Hmmm, got a call from them. That guy got a really strong accent, and I couldn't understand him at all. After a few questions, he got pissed off and terminated the phone call himself....

Yep, same scam called asking about accidents in the past 12 months. When I said I'd had none, they said "it must have been a mistake in the system". Yeah right...
