Received a call to my DNC registered number about investment opportunities. As this is from a overseas entity that can't be reported, I went through their questions and arranged to be called by a "local expert".
When an Australian business calls me, I will have someone to report to the DNC Register. Australian businesses should check all leads they obtain from a third party against the DNC Register and have found that they could not call me.
The overseas call centres continue to call their WhitePages database because Australian business pay them for their dirty leads.
You can be quite polite collecting the business details but do let them know you will report them and that they are supporting telemarketing to DNC registered numbers. Also, ask them the name and contact details of the entity that provided your number to them. Under the Telemarketing Industry Standard they are required to provide you with that within 7 days.
It's satisfying to pollute the dirty leads that Australian businesses are supporting. If lots of people do this it will be even more effective.

This number called, different number to yesterday but same "company" wealth investments or something about saving tax from my home. Had my maiden name and an address I loved at MANY MANY years ago! When I told them I was sick of their scam calls and to take me off their list they told me that since I said it was a scam that they will continue to call me. When I asked details about their company they told me that they can't give me any details until I give them all my details, um no. Hit block this caller!!

I love this sort of call. It's obviously a scam ,and as I have lots of spare time I like to "wind them up" I answer all there questions with absolute b/s .when I told them I make $1.5million a year they got very excitedly but when I told them my D.O.B. was 30 feb 1907 they hung up ,that's a shame 'cos while they are trying to con me they are leaving everyone else alone

I received a call from a heavily accented man who could barely speak English. All I could understand was Tax Benefit. When I asked where he was calling from he repeatedly said Melbourne, but the number was a Brisbane number. I told the man I knew it was scam and I was not stupid enough to believe he was in Melbourne when the number showing was 2,000km away, and he hung up. I have since blocked the number.

I'm getting this number constantly and as I have ID caller on my phone. I decided to make a call to my service provider and informed them of this number, they said they were going to block it, but now they call and my ID Shows it's an overseas call with no number. These f--k wit idiots are wasting their time as I'm not stupid to answer it. They can try all they want they'll get no answer!!!! I will also call the Do Not Call Register and report it and have all unidentified numbers blocked!!!!!! So fed up with these D--KS!!!!

I once was a telecom technician. Telecom can split the "outgoing" and "incoming" portions of the equipment, so your caller would be using the outgoing part and the incoming line would be made dead. Can only be done by telcos I believe.

They asked me if I was a home owner, something about a tax benifit something or other. Told them I'm not a home owner and hung up. What is it with these "home owner" scams?

Took the call, was told about "Smart" tax savings, home loan blah blah blah... very politely told the caller this was a business phone and what they were offering was not applicable, so they hung up on me mid sentence. Tired to call back to let them know that was very unprofessional.... "this number is not connected".
How can they make calls from an unconnected number?? Surely this is illegal. A pox on you and your "business".
