My credit card expired and my bill was overdue. Nothing dodgy just a regular local number owned by AGL customer service.

THAT BEING SAID:
Although not a scam I do completely understand anyone who thinks it is -: they hit me 3 times in under an hour during work hours (between 1pm and 2pm). This is despite me having an "in office" message bank activated, so they are clearly not listening and just shunting numbers back into the queue to redial. Behaviour like this makes legitimate companies look like telemarketers - AGL should either look at better training or processes for their outbound calls.

Caller: Scammers claiming to be AGL

The caller said they were from AGL. The call appeared to be coming from an overseas call centre. The caller used specific dialogue which is used by Services Australia (Medicare, Centrelink, Child Support.) and then asked for my details, and my e-mail address. I said " You should have that on file" so they stopped asking but they did ask for an immediate credit card payment. They also slipped up and said ATO during the conversation instead of AGL. They said I had received my bill by email on 18 AUG 2022, this is the date that scammers last emailed me. I asked if they could email me another copy of the bill, they pretended to email me while I was on the phone. No email came through, not even to spam. Lady spoke with a Filipina accent.
DO NOT GIVE YOUR DETAILS TO THESE SCAMMERS.

It's not DANGEROUS. IT'S NOT SPAM. IT'S NOT A SCAM EITHER. it is a recorded message from AGL informing you that your bill is overdue. Call them, sort it. THEY WILL HELP YOU. you do have options. Stop ignoring your responsibility as a consumer of electricity and pay your bill. ANYONE THAT MARKS THIS NUMBER AS NEGATIVE IS A BOGAN WHO DESERVES THEIR ELECTRICITY CUT OFF.

Caller: Agl Scammers!

Called Agl directly after (07) 3510 4909 kept calling. They said it is a scam! Agl would not call you directly unless you requested specific time and day to be contacted much less ask about anything amazon related.. the people here posting that it isn't a scam are questionable.. Call your provider directly and inquire!

I never answer a call unless I know the number. If they don't leave a message they obviously don't need to talk to me.

Very aggressive comment. That's exactly how a scammer would react.

Turns out this is a scam. I've been ripped off $480. My previous comment is wrong. Disregard and AVOID this number!

Definitely fake. They claimed to be from AGL collections and when I said I had paid the bill already and said I would check the date, they hung up on me. Don’t give your details over.

Stop saying it's spam. It's not spam or a scam. It's AGL - your bill is overdue.
Anyone who lists this number as a scam is scum or a dodgy bogan who obviously is avoiding their debts.

Answer it, sort it. They will help if you are having issues. And if your electricity is too high maybe you should shut down that grow house, turn off your TV, get a job and hang out your washing and stop reporting this number as a SCAM. as it is NOT A SCAM!!!

Caller was aggressive when I said I couldn't talk, I only answered as I'm waiting for an urgent call. My bill was overdue so I advised I would pay that immediately via the App, but she continued to be aggressive and wanted me to stay on the line. Unsure if this was a scam, poor attitude if this was a AGL Customer Service representative.

A caller wanting my personal details to set up the account. When first answered the line went dead - that’s the connection to a scam. You can then hear a room full of that same culture of scammers. She couldn’t understand my terminology also proving a scammer who doesn’t understand our words in Australia. Don’t call them back, call the AGL official number back.

I have voicemail and I use it.
When you have the option to leave a message you should take that opportunity, unless you have something to say that you don’t want recorded!
