The name Lyn is a code name for the reason you have rung.While you rang ,are being recorded,asked for "LYN",you are instantly flagged as a person they contacted regarding debt recovery. From now on they pry out of you all details they need to locate your current address/work place without giving you enough to hang up on them. They record you,are prewarned why you rang,and keep you on line while gathering info about you.

Received a call today. Someone asking for contact details for a distant relative of mine. Would not say what company she worked for or why she wanted to contact my relative. She gave me her phone number to ring back if anyone can help her - (07) 3422 6527. She must have found me through facebook. I cannot think of any other way anyone could know I am connected to this (distant) relative. Very cagey!

If you agree you have a debt,they have a taped agreement that you accept you owe money,and this gives them permission by you to pursue you for the debt.
If you owed $5000 ,they bought this debt from your lender for a low price,and in order to get their money back plus a tidy profit,they must hound you till you pay up.
The lender has written you off as a bad debt and can claim the full amount as a loss at TAX time,and wants no more to do with you. A debt collector buys the debt from the lender for $500 ,and chases you for at least the $500 plus a profit. If desperate they may accept your hard luck story and offer to accept only $2500.Often they will try to steer you into a "loan" or "binding commitment" to extract a trickle of payment.
Basically your original lender has made an effort to get you to pay,but given up and wrote you off.They can claim the full loss back on tax,want no more to do with you and have put a slur on your Credit Record for 5 years.
The debt collector buys your debt for a pittance and chases you,pretending he is only "recovering"" your original debt to him. He may ask how much you could pay,and will accept that figure as full payment. What he wont tell you is your bad credit record will not change,and he is making a nice profit on a debt that the original lender has wrote off.
My advice--dont engage in conversation with them,dont give any new information-- ignore them. The longer they keep the chat going,pumping you for information while being recorded,it is to their benefit,and your detriment.

A LADY BY THE NAME OF LYNN CONTACTED MY EX-MOTHER INLAW Y'DAY THE 27th SEPT 2013 LOOKING FOR ME BY MY MARRIED SURNAME, BUT SHE THOUGHT IT WAS MY MAIDEN NAME, THEN THOUGHT MY MAIDEN NAME WAS MY MARRIED NAME, I HAVEN'T USED MY MARRIED NAME FOR 20+ YEARS WHICH MY MOTHER-IN-LAW TOLD HER, SHE THEN WANTED TO KNOW IF MY NAME I WAS USING WAS XXXXX BUT OF COURSE SHE DIDN'T TELL HER, LYNN THEN SAID I LIVED IN SUBURB XXXX WHICH IS SCARY, THIS LYNN WOMEN KEPT SAYING IT IS "URGENT" BUT WOULD DISCLOSE ANY INFO AS WHO SHE IS WHAT SHE WANTED ME FOR, SHE WOULDN'T SAY WHERE SHE IS FROM "COMPANY" ETC, SHE THEN HUNG UP, MY MOTHER INLAW RANG BACK PRETENDING TO LOOK FOR SOMEONE ELSE, THIS LYNN WOMEN ANSWERED TOLD MOTHER INLAW THERE WHERE SEVERAL GIRLS WITH THIS NAME I NEED A SURNAME, MOTHER INLAW HUNG UP, I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THIS "LYNN" WOMEN IS BUT THANKFULLY MY EX MOTHER INLAW DIDN'T GIVE HER ANYTHING, SHE DID TRY HEAPS OF WAYS TO TRY FINDING OUT WHO LYNN" IS, BUT TO NO AVAIL...

I've had the same lady by the same number ringing me looking for my ex. Who is this woman?

A lady calling herself Lyn has been trying to contact my daughter urgently without success. She contacted me. I asked how she got my telephone number, she replied that she googled me but was not sure that I was the mother, she would not tell me what was so urgent. I am left wondering what is wrong. I strongly object to this type of behaviour.
