It's a scammer. "You won a gift card, please blah blah blah to claim your prize"

Test message said I have won a $100 gift voucher, just click here to claim your prize. Yeah sure!!!

Advised that I won $100 ash Gift Card - Assuming they've changed their identity from being a government service to companies giving out money.

Qld resident. Gov't practice is not to make unsolicited calls. If SRC is owned by ANU, then it may be a money making contract for the university. As uni's are businesses, they sell information for money, but do not guarantee employment or well-being from their products. Since we have another govt dept called the ABS, which supplies each state with population stats gleaned from census surveys, I immediately refused to assist these cold callers.

Appears to be from a legit Social Research Centre on behalf of Victorian Department of Health and Human Services which is based in Melbourne. After googling SRC, they state they are owned by the Australian National University. Apparently phone numbers are generated at random therefore include listed and unlisted numbers. Quote from their website "The process used to randomly generate numbers was to select all eligible 6 digit prefixes in Victoria and then randomly append the remaining digits to generate a phone number."
They also state "You may have received a text message from 0488 826 323 or a phone call from (03) 8580 2154 regarding this study." And mobile numbers do not indicate which state a person may be in.

Whilst it may be legit, I did not ask to be contacted by them or ask/volunteer to take part in a survey therefore I will not be participating.

This has scam written all over it. Random number generator that sends a text message to every permutation of our ten digit phone numbers. Everyone in Australia will get it. You probably get pumped for your health insurance details which they on sell to insurance companies who also then phone you. Do not reply....Just delete and get on with your life.

Victorian population health survey. They say in the SMS that they will ring in a couple of days and then press 1 for resident 2 for non-resident or 3 to opt out. I contacted our Vic State member's office and they do not know of any such survey. They also checked the number and believe it is a scam.

Cold calling / SMSing should be BANNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! these wankers need a wakeup call.
