The SMS was legitimate, and from the bank.
That does not mean you should just accept it, as scammers can easily spoof the mobile number.

THIS IS A SCAM. NOT A COMMONWEALTH BANK NUMBER!! NUMBER DISCONNECTED. DON'T RESPOND TO ANYTHING IN THIS MESSAGE SAYING THAT "YOUR PAYMENT HAS DECLINED AND PLEASE LOG IN TO YOUR CBA ACCOUNT" VIA A SCREEN THEY SEND YOU - THEY'RE PHISHING FOR YOUR PASSWORD. CALL YOUR LOCAL CBA BANK INSTEAD AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS SCAM. THE POLICE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.

I had a notification saying i spent $13 on an ebook that i didn't purchase myself so i locked it on the spot. The following day (today) i get a text from this number saying that my card was being locked and instruction on how to unlock it/report it lost or stolen...
I've locked a card from commbank before and never had them contact me because of it

This number should be listed as spam as they are asking you to log into your account and put in your password therefore could be trying to get into your account. We have not had a commbank account for over 10 years so this is suss..

I think it WAS a genuine Commbank number/number they use for texts. I got a text from this number after I spent some time on their help line one day. BUT I think it's now been used by scammers.
I got a call from another number 0436 691 223 with a message left by a lady called Michelle asking me to call back about a 'non-urgent matter' and said she was from a particular branch. I then got text message to the 0488 728 596 number - where she pretty much said the same thing but referenced a different branch. Not calling back .

I only receive text messages from this number. They relate to announcing any declined transactions. The message is followed up with an email from Commonwealth Bank, and also a message on my Netbank site. It is probably a way for the bank to notify customers who don't have their mobile telephone linked to their internet server, or the Commonwealth Bank App. Some more senior citizens are at their technical limit just mastering a mobile telephone and text messaging.

Very wary of this being legit. I haD fraudulent PayPal charges to my account about 2 weeks ago and when I noticed the money going out of my account I locked my card first so that no more money could come out before I could log in to PayPal and sus out what was going on. I got a text in the middle of the night from the legit commbank number saying someone had tried to access my funds but couldn’t because my card was locked. So I canceled the card all together, sorted the rest out with PayPal and was refunded the entire amount. My new card came a week ago and last night this number texts me saying “Your card is still locked. To unlock your card, or report it lost or stolen, log on to NetBank and go to Settings or open the CommBank app and tap on Cards.” So yeah, pretty wary considering none of my cards are locked and my last card was already reported lost/stolen...

It’s the Commonwealth bank. It’s automatically sent to you via internet banking. If you don’t want the message you can switch it off via settings on The commbank internet website.

Spoofed phone number, it isn't from Com Bank. I deleted all messages without answering any. Scam trying to find out if your number is live and if you are a Com Bank customer.
