Caller: "Legal Assist"

Someone with a Subcontinental-sounding accent calling from "Legal Assist" about someone in the household supposedly having been in a car accident. They got blasted with the siren function of an electric megaphone for their trouble trying to steal my identity or whatever criminal purpose they were calling for. There is a realistic-looking, but fake, website at www.legalassist.com.au. There is no contact phone number, no email address, no street address, no postal address, no ABN, and there is no WHOIS record for that site (mandatory under Internet conventions) giving the registrar of the domain name and how to contact someone responsible for the site.

I got a missed called from this mobile today. I decided to look the number up and wow! I am surprised at how many others have had the same number calling them.. I won't be returning their call ! thanks for posting everyone.

F*&%kwits. Can't the phone companies disconnect their number.

Missed a call from this number today, decided to return it through my work number & when answered there was a beep noise (obviously recording). Indian accent female kept asking if I was in an accident and kept asking for my name which when I said I would report their number to police she hung up.

Rings and hangs up when my answer phone kicks in

The scammer: i was just trying to help you
Me: Where do you get my number from?
The scammer: from my survey team
Me: all surveys should have name and contact details, and you don't even have my name. Go get some work rather than scamming people. you aint got anything by doing this, you think people are so stupid?

Got a call from this number, I didn't recognise it so i didn't answer it and it went to voicemail. No message in voicemail, message ran for 30 seconds of silence.
The Telecommunications Obudsman should be fining the Telco's that own these numbers for abuse. A phone network should be able to detect spoofed numbers and block them. The network should also be able to identify the owners of numbers so they can be prosecuted for abuse.

Do you remember which website that domain lookup was done on?

Ive just been called by this number. No message of course. Super greatful for this site. Blocking now. Been called by it them Legal assist, before, but different number. What happened to the no not call register working?

Then I googled the number and discovered its a scammer.
& I Blocked the number.

I just got their call and they advised they were from Legal Asssist calling about an accident. They are scammers, block their number.

Asked if I was in an accident in last 2 years..... I knew straight away it was a scam.... I played along with her and she knew I had her made

Caller: FAKE CAR ACCIDENT

Foreign accent similar to Indian female said they were from Legal Access Sydney in regards to accident someone has had...in my family. I asked where did they get my number as she has rung a Police Station. She said from the insurers. Liar...... I asked her name "Sophia Wilson" she said I said good now I have your details I will be ringing you back from a Police location.

She forgot to say thank you and goodbye...line went dead I wonder if she hung up for some reason.

There was a beeeeep sound and then music so I hung up, I placed the number into google and saw all of these messages I will go and block this number now
