I receive the same text message every so often a few mins after a phone call regarding some varying fairytale debt, "Please call recoveriescorp on 1300 135 017 today, quote ref #". Today's phone call was from a private number, Aussie women, wanting to ID me before discussing a road toll...

From the other comments, I'm pretty sure this is a fisher text, looking for active phones.

This is an automated phone number used for bulk text messaged. May be from a school, doctor, real estate, debt collector, etc - anyone using the internet/software to generate text messages.

They're a Debt Collection agency.

Last time I will give my details to anyone. (It costs .22cents to opt out)

This is very weird. This number is also used by my physiotherapist to confirm appointments and in this case is legitimate. Are these scammers hijacking legitimate phone numbers to use for their own nefarious purposes?

This is stupid, I don't have any accounts with the NAB, I forwarded the SMS to the A.C.M.A.
