I just lost a massive amount to this guy he has no idea on what this has done to me...

He searches vunerable people who post “wanted to buy adverts” he gets pictures from the web and can be very convincing... he was supposed to send me something I had been saving up for , it took me over a year to get the money in my account.

Thinking I was getting a good buy I transferred the money got all ID etc off (done the usual checks people would do) obviously I didn’t think of doing a number search :(

Suggestion.......

If you look up the BSB of the account where he wants you to send money and find the financial institution, you can inform them through a link on their website. None of institutions want to do business with this type of person and they will de-bank him.

It might not stop him but it will make it a little more difficult especially as the word gets around.

As this guy tried to sell me a item on gumtree saying he is from darwin and he can post it to me to my doorstep. Well when i mesaaged his phone and he replied "Potential fraud" came up on my phone.via 'hiya', so that rang alarm bells and thought i better do a check and well lucky i did and found this, otherwise i would have been couple hundred out of pocket. This guy is a.scam and a poor excuse of a person and isnt nor wouldnt even insult men out there by putting him in that bracket as hes a scum filthy dog maggot and even then its a insult to all of the above too. Beware..keep away from this wanker as he is still surfing through gumtree looking and picking his victims by answering wanted ads pretending to have the.car parts in question. He used location as darwin also with me but he is from.victoria. by the looks of the comments his time will.come.and.catch.up with him and when it does..oh how sweet it would be to watch it and be part of it. I posted a WTB on gumtree last night and got a text this morning asking whether I'd purchase something even if it had to be posted. I said I would and then exchanged a few details.

I was looking for a very specific part for an old bike.

I felt a bit uneasy, so I eventually called the guy (who said his name was Daniel) and he explained why he had the part. He also explained that the reason he was 'parting out' his bike was due to the fact that he was in Darwin and had no access to good mechanics. It sounded legit and so I agreed to transfer cash.


He sent me the name and bank account details. That leads to about 30 mins ago when (on a whim) I just looked up Daniel Falzon. This thread was the second result in Google, thank God! The name matched, the phone number matched. You know what they say... if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck....

I lodged a complaint against him to the online Cyber Fraud website (https://www.cyber.gov.au/report) and finally got a reply last week with information Vic police are going to charge him. I suggest if you have been a victim you lodge a complaint and have as much documentation about your communication with him as possible.

Who tipped you off?

This guy is still active. Tried to scam me today from a wanted Gumtree Ad. He's a total novice and I caught him out. Some tips for everyone to avoid being scammed.

1. Ask for images and image search these on Google. A lot of the time these scammers will just lift images off the net.
2. Google their mobile number - you never know what you'll find.
3. If it sounds too good to be true (low price etc) then it probably is.
4. Check how long they have been a member of a particular site. Anything new is a red flag.
5. Never pay with bank details. In person is always the best. If you have to then use something like Paypal.
6. Don't give out personal information.
7. Research the buyer/seller
