SCAM - this type of message is so that once you reply to them they can confirm that your phone number is active and gather data on your phone carrier. Then you can expect a zillion more scam calls to begin.

I too received the Greenpeace message. I tend to believe this is a scam as I have not pledged financial or other support to this agency. Blocking and not returning call.

Seems to be a recycled number used by multiple outsourced mass-SMS campaigns:
So far we see: Wildlife, PETA, Greenpeace, Make-A-Wish, and now La Trobe University contacting Alumni (past students) to raise money......

Says it was from La Trobe University asking to help students adjust to life after care. Dodgy!!!

I didn’t get a phone call from this number but I did get a text message saying “A student from La Trobe University will call you soon. We need your help to support young people leaving care access higher education. Reply STOP to opt out.” Of course I texted stop. When I called the number back it said it was turned off.
