Caller: I Don't Care

What people need to know is that all these calls are aided and abetted by telstra ! They have an endless bank of numbers that these people are given access to, so they just have to make the call then telstra under their agreement just allocates one of this number bank to that call and another call will have another number bank number allocated to it , this is why if you do happen to call back the connection just cuts out because you are calling a non existent number ; and telstra should be ashamed of themselves for that " Profit Over Privacy! " shame on you Telstra! The only other hang up calls you will get "are" actual numbers their the ones that let it ring just once or twice then end the call, the idea behind this is to get you to call them wondering what they wanted and by doing so you have just given them two things they can now overcome the " Do Not Call Register " as you have now phoned them and they are just returning your call ( perfectly legal ) and secondly you have just let them know that yours is an active number so they can now sell it off to a mailing list along with any details about you they have .
SO if you don't know the number and they don't leave messages "BLOCK" the lot of them and tell everyone you know to do the same. 
Legitimate callers will generally always leave some form of message for you. 
And to finish my rant! 
Shamefully enough most of these calls come from the one company that collects for most of the well known charities and for every $1 you donate only about 3 cents to a maximum of 8 cents from that $1 goes to that actual charity the rest goes into the pockets of these annoying " Thieves "

This number called me they new my full name and because I never new the number or did not recognise the voice I hung up then I tried calling number back with my number hidden to see if they would Identify them self when answered but instead recording saying “YOUR CALL COULDNT BE CONNECTED PLEASE CHECK THE NUMBER BEFORE CALLING AGAIN”

Got a call from this number tonight. went to voicemail. like other posters, when I rang back it said "your call could not be connected, please check the number and try again". Obviously they are stilla ctive.

Quite often after purchasing insurance for travel or loan insurance this number starts calling so I suspect that firms such as Swann Insurance are selling our details as a side hustle despite what their rather obnoxious privacy statements say. I often flip between my home and work phone numbers on these and the calls follow the number I provide. Also suspect software and App providers are data mining and selling as well. The company running the NSW Opal card is one of the biggest data mining companies in the world even holding back information from the user (Transport NSW) and only releasing it on payment.

scam. rings and hangs up

Yep they've been hassling me too. They said they were some marketing thing, so I just said I wasn't interested and hung up but they still keep calling.

Wanted to speak to my partner - asked when he would be back. When I questioned him he said "Cmon it's man's business" and hung up. Don't be ringing back dude.

Caller: scam

they have called me on 5 different numbers i called back on the last one it was a voice mail box so i hung up 5 seconds later they ring me again i have block 5 of there numbers its all aided by telstra they give out peoples number

Caller ID displayed number as 0422 030 015. Delay before caller answered phone. Audible background chatter. No name given that I could understand the pronunciation of anyway. Seemed to be scripted conversation. Heavily accented and barely able to understand. Would not take NO for an answer. Called every 45 seconds trying to deliver full sales spiel ... called eight times. Second last call we told him we were reporting to ACORN Scamwatch. He got very nasty and verbally abusive. Number blocked but will probably call from another number.

Missed the call (fortunately) and when tried to ring back could not connect to this number (invalid).

Called for the 3rd time
Said he was from some investments mob. Rattled of an email that I haven’t used in 10 years.
When I told him never to call again , he started swearing and abusing me.
Hung up and blocked number

This number had called me several times and I had missed answering it and never left a message.

Finally answered it and it was a call centre following up on "investments" I had apparently agreed to start making. They hung up on me as soon as I mentioned that I had made no such statement.

I rang my mobile provider with OPTUS being no help what so ever when I asked if the number could be barred and my account be monitored incase this was part of a porting scam...

I was called, I was treated very rudely and aggressively by the person on the phone. Asking me for an email to send investment details. I asked what investments, They would not specify. I said I call later I was busy. They yelled at me stating they were busy too, just give me the "f*cking: email. And yes they did use the "f" word. I the said I give you my email, and I then hanged up. I was not going to tolerate lack of transparency, lack or respect and certainly not rudeness aggressive tone of voice. They also did not respect my time, I was busy in a meeting at work. If Telstra sent these details and that is true. SHAME ON YOU. Now I know why I don't do internet with them.

Had an insurance quote done online.
Then this number called.
SPAM.
I’ve blocked it.

Def a scam. They had my name and asked if my email was ….. a generic gmail email using my name? When I said no and asked who I was speaking too they hung up.
