This call identified with a Warning, as the TAX Deprtment. The warning said, your Tax File Number (TFN) was cancelled and a legal case was in progress. It goes on to say you cannot reapply for a new one.
It is a threatening call and it is bogus. My TNF is for life and never changes once it has been issued. The caller attempts to trick you into selecting a number on your key pad (1). No doubting it... if you select that option... you will be asked to provide them with the real TFN. ... Once you do that... it's what they want. That would be the beginning of your identity being complete and the theft of your IDENTITY.
Do not respond. Hang up and block the caller's number and report it ASAP.
