This number purports to represent a business enterprise. Male voice that gives one the impression of 'phishing' for information. The interaction immediately alerts one to mal-intent.

Definitely Spam.
Pretending to be Google + and trying to get information and sign you up with a service.
as if Google would call from an ordinary mobile number and sound so unprofessional.
Don't even waste your time talking to them. Also had a male voice, almost thought it was a highschool prank call from how badly he was "pretending".

Australian sounding male called me saying my name loudly, as if I knew them. They hadn't had their speakers setup properly because when I replied, he couldn't hear me. I hung up. I called back a few minutes later just in case it was someone I knew. No answer. And thus, finding this website and seeing that this person is a definite scum bag.

Called with music blaring in the background, didn't introduce themself nor their company and simply said "I want to talk to you about google+". When I said I wasn't interested they were pushy and tried to use "don't you want your business advertised to people on Google?" again they were told no and they responded with "that's interesting" and hung up. Completely unprofessional and not a pleasant interaction at all.

0403 591 227 rang me today at 11.54am. After answering hello, it took few seconds for him to reply. It sounded like he was in a call centre and his voice was Australian. He asked my name. I didn't confirm or deny it was...and asked why he was calling. He stalled, then said he had a survey for Google Plus. I then asked for what business he was attempting to call me from, he hung up.
No reputable company would not identify themselves upon answering... or also terminate a call when a simple question was asked. When I rang the number back, it went unanswered.
I rang Consumer Affairs, as always, they have no clue. Am in the process of reporting to the telecommunication ombudsman.

This number is phishing. Beware.
Handle with complete care ... they are out to catch you.

Behave as though you are the person THEY think you are. This will send them on a wild goose chase.

People like this need to be sent phishing in vain, without them knowing it.

Phishing scam call.

To mislead them, respond as though you are the person they are attempting to contact. That way they are misled, and they will spend needless time and money trying to get more details. So, when they start the conversation with "Judith ???", just say "yes", and carry on the conversation.

Un-natural voice, immediately sounding as though they are disguising it.
Greets you, as they did to me, by calling out a name - in my case they stated the wrong name "Gavin", as if expecting a reply to this name if it was wrong. Carry on the conversation as though you are this person - this really misleads them.
It's got scam written all over it - but the person making the call was obviously unaware that I realised the un-natural, fake voice gave the game away.
Beware folks, but a real amateur makes these calls. Follow my example of letting them believe it's the right person they are communicating with.
