Like everyone else I have had continual calls, when answered there is no one on the line and if you don't answer they don't leave a message.

Have never had a subscription with any Fairfax newspaper so I have no idea how they got my number...

Keeps calling, called back and got a message saying that Fairfax has a great deal on The Age newspaper subscription. I don't or ever will subscribe to The Age. I have received at least 1 call everyday for the last 2 weeks and there doesn't seem to be any way of stopping it so I called fairfax head office 13 66 66 went to the sales department told them off and the calls stopped.

Yep I am getting these calls too and it looks to be related to SMH subscription renewals, mine of which is about to expire. Very disappointed in the SMH for this kind of tactic. Nobody on the phone, just a call at all times of the day, then nothing. Very annoying.

Just received a missed call on a phone number i hardly ever use (or give out). No message.

Looks like a telemarketer to me...my bet is they're trying random numbers.

I have my mums old number and my phone went off in class! When I got my phone back off the teacher, I checked the number and I had never seen it before so I searched it. Seeing that other people have got calls from this number continuously scares me.

If you call them back, its an automated message which says call them to hear about offers for the Age... I've never subscribed to the Age....

Automated dialers wont connect calls through to an agent if no-body answers.
Your best option is to just answer and politely advise that you don't want to continue your subscription.
Ignoring the call often just causes your number to go back into the system to be called again.
I found this out the hard way with the Commonwealth Bank always calling me about insurance, I ignored calls, then found out the best thing to do was answer them.
Also, being on the 'Do Not Call' register means nothing if you have an existing relationship with a company, it only stops 'cold' calling.

Same as most people on here, I got a call from this number, answered, it was silent for a second and then I got an engaged signal, which was quaint given I haven't heard one of them for years now as I only use a mobile phone these days. Anyway back to topic... I called the number back and it connected with silence then several quick beeps in succession, which repeated endlessly. I did some research, it is The Age or The Sydney Morning Herald subscriptions department automated phone system. If there isn't any call centre staff available for you to be connected to when you answer, the computer hangs up. The computer won't take incoming calls. Get in contact with the newspaper directly and request you be taken off their call list. I have recently ended our subscription which is why I suspect I am now receiving the calls.

Receive several calls this week from this number, no messages left. When I answered I heard a computer beep of some sort then they hung up.

My Age subscription runs out in 2 weeks. Didn't realise it was linked to the calls until I found this site. Am in the same boat as everyone else.

They've called several times. Once I answered but couldn't hear anyone, I said hello again and then it hung up on me. Annoying

it is definitely Fairfax trying to get you to sign up or re-sign to one of their papers (SMH or the Age). Very Rude and unprofessional. I had a subscription to SMH and then cancelled it a the end of the subscription period...now I get the damned calls all the time.
