Caller: Someone calling themselves Lisa Collins on behalf of an Australian Charity survey.

Dangerous scam. It operates under the guise of a charity survey where you just have to answer 'yes' or 'no' to a series of questions. There is a female recorded Aussie voice that has a series of pre-recorded answers for the likely questions you may have. I've heard of this before. All the time you are being recorded.

Your voice is recorded mainly saying 'yes' or 'no' but possibly you may say "I do" or "of course" and similar responses.

Your responses can then be used to illegally sign you up as "agreeing" to receive services, as false verification for financial transactions, forms of identity theft - the list goes on.

Depending on what you say initially on receiving the call, you will experience a response delay while the operator finds a suitable recorded response to play to you.

Very well set up, but a treacherous form of robbery!! Best to hang up and not say anything!!

I love the Reverse Australia service and greatly appreciate being able to search numbers I do not recognise. I have noticed a huge increase in these calls and also posts to my email address which thankfully go straight to my scan folder. We all have to be vigilant in this new world of communication, thanks to all for you input.

I bought these phones from Telstra, they are called Call Guardian 301 Cordless Phones, they come with a booklet that shows you how to use all of it's features. I have all of my friends and important phone numbers in the phone book that it has and any numbers coming in that are not there are taken straight to the phones answering machine, I have missed the odd one and rang them straight back after they left their message. I however am getting 3 or 4 calls a day from numbers beginning with 08 and as I have absolutely nobody in the 08 region of Australia they go to the answer machine, phone does not even ring and of course these calls are scammers and never bother to leave a message. I am not now rushing to the phone to answer to these people who are so annoying. This has also stopped me answering to "Hello this is Nicole".

When will our government do something to stop these parasites stealing from trusting old ladies. They're rude scum, deserve tactical mini warheads delivered to their scam holes.

Scam call, trying to get you to say YES, NO and MAYBE. They record this in your voice for later use in cheating you out of money. Just hang up . . . .It is too cleaver for words as they have recorded responses to some of your questions, with a delay while the push the button on a response for you . . .Just hang up

Spot on. . . That happened to me so I gave a couple of false answer's and avoided Yes & No before hanging up. Should have hung up when she gave me her name as Lisa Collins

Do not, I repeat do not answer this call or fall for any of this malicious behaviour. They are dogs, they have scammed my poor innocent sister for all she is worth. I will shut these these people down if it the last thing I do.

I'm treating this as a scam because (1) I heard a distinct VOIP "plop" signal while the call was being connected; and (2) phone numbers can be freely spoofed on VOIP calls. This same "Lisa Collins" called a couple of days ago from an 08 number; today the call is coming from an apparently Melbourne number.
