Indian AGL debt collector calls from this number then proceeds to ask for my personal details including date of birth.
I switched to AGL for 14 days then went back to Origin, I have paid my bills, and I am now back paying bills with Origin, however, AGL keep sending bills and asking for payment even though AGL are No Longer my energy provider. I will never go back to AGL. Prior to this they had an automated phone machine calling me every day for 2 weeks with a message to pay my bills and select from a menu. NEVER sign up to AGL, absolutely appalling customer service and they trick you into paying amounts that you don't even owe them.

have had a number of calls from this number also on cell and home phone. every time they ring now both me and my husband tell them we reporting to the police and they hang up straight away!

They just called me and I don't have and NEVER have had an account with AGL. My Electricity bill is current and up to date with my provider of many years.

Received the call from (03) 9649 4074 on 06/02/2015, the woman with a strong Scottish accent said she's calling from AGL about my unpaid bills. I do have a dispute with AGL about my bills, so I gave her my customer number. Then she said that number is not correct, she needs to check my DOB. It sounded suspicious, so I gave her fake date of birth. There were sounds of a call centre, she put me on hold, and I didn't want to wait. My advice is: Don't trust them!

Got a call from them yesterday as well. They know my name... Scary...

This is apparently an AGL debt collection number. Although it is a Victorian number it appears to be staffed by overseas operators from a non English speaking background. Suggest if you have any dealings call AGL direct here in Australia. AGL need to know that if they want to speak to or pass a message on to their customers they need to either post a letter, send an email or use operators who speak English in a manner that can be easily understood in Australia rather than with such a strong accent it is not intelligible to the locals. Lack of communication only makes for very angry clients and lost business. It's not the operators fault really it is AGL's for being so non client focussed.

except when you don't owe them any money and are ahead on your bill...
so why would they be calling me then?

I got a call form this number too, and the man told me he was form ACT-AGL, thanks god, I didn't tell him my person information

Scam - receive calls from multiple numbers with recordings of agl hold music for when you call back.
Caller is Trying to gather information for identity fraud. AGL will send letter if overdue and can transfer to supervisor for identification

have been bothered by this number frequently and again just now. I missed the call, but rang them back and was disconnected. They have asked for dob details in the past and I have refused, as I am no longer with AGL. They wouldn't or couldn't tell me why they are ringing until i gave them my personal details, so it was a stale mate and I hung up on them and was hounded by frequent calls every day and several times a day.

I'm currently on the phone to this number now! I said 'hello?..... hello?' Nothing. I put them o loudspeaker and muted it. So far 15.22 minutes...

i got a phone call tonight around 7:30pm and an indian man told me to give me my credit card details because my electricity was going to be cut off on the 11th September. (got the bill this week!) i refused and told him i didn't have a credit card, he then proceeded to ask how much money i earnt a week! i told him that it was illegal to ask such personal questions and i wouldn't disclose my personal earnings... he kept asking me about my earnings I then threatened to call the ombudsman in the morning and hung up, called customer resolutions and made a formal complaint, i will proceed to call the ombudsman in the AM

funny thing is I don't even have account with AGL (don't know who they are) so I really think this is a scam).

Someone rang and hung up. Rang back. They didn't pick up. Sounds like AGL. Very bad line or recording. No idea why I was called.

you guys just need to pay your overdue gas bills and stop making excuses for yourselves such as Scam - etc etc -

Sure they probally arent AGL them selfs but they are outsourced to do there work for them -- Doesnt make you any less liable for your unfinalized account though

A woman with Indian accent called my mobile from this number claiming to be from ACTEW and asking for my DOB.

Claiming to be from Actew AGL and was requesting I pay an overdue gas bill from my previous address (which was cancelled months ago) . They then asked me to verify my account with my date of birth.

Two calls today: scammers after accounts and fake AGL claims. Foreign accents, call centre source.
