I didn’t recognise the number so let it ring out. Voicemail left was a recorded/computerised voice with an American accent saying “you have been kept from this conference”

It's time the Federal & State governments employed experts to track these scammers & marketers down & imprison them on chain gangs doing hard labour jobs. Also Legislation should ban marketing of anything by phone, text, email, postal services & junk mail. Rather, in this day & age every business should have a website that everyone can access if they genuinely need something. We don't need marketers to tell us what we should have or need. Legislation should set fines of $3million or more because marketers’ & scammers’ texts & emails use up data of innocent people. Many marketers own hundreds of phone numbers & so it's impossible to block them. For example, a company owns hundreds of phone numbers beginning with "02 8020" & only the last four numbers change. So if you block"(02) 8020 1222" they phone you from eg, "(02) 8020 1345" later that day. People say their homes have been robbed after getting marketing phone calls because when you answer your phone they know you're home & hang up. But the first time you don’t answer your phone the marketers send their mates to rob you because they think you're not home. This is one reason why many elderly people have had home invasions. It's easy to tell if someone is elderly by their voice. That is, some nasty people employed by marketing companies tell their criminal mates when you don’t answer your phone.
